    There is no simple formula for the sum.

    You could find one for u(r)=1/(r+1) - 1/(r+2)

    The sum of the series 1+1/2+1/3+... (the Harmonic series) can be approximated by the integral of 1/x dx and thus approximates log n for large n, with an adjustment term called Euler-Mascheroni constant (see link).
