Where is a good website to order a gun for home defense.?

Would a moss berg 500 be good for a woman to use. And how can we have a land line phone be put in that cannot be cut by a would be robber. I understand the Moss berg makes a loud noise when the second round is chambered. Any one know anything about this. Thank You

There are a number of fine online gun stores -- http://www.budsgunshop.com/ is a favorite of many.

Yes, a Mossberg 500 is a good choice -- possibly in 20 gauge rather than 12 gauge for a woman. Another nice thing about the Mossberg is that the self-defense model can hold 8 shells -- rather than the 4 in a sporting configuration.

I don't think the Mossberg makes any more noise than any other pump shotgun when racking a shell. There are two schools of thought on this: 1) the noise of a shotgun racking is one of the most fearsome noises an intruder can hear ... and 2) really, the first sound an intruder should hear is "Bang". Does the second sound really matter?

You'll hear a lot about which sort of buckshot you should use. When you come down to it, no shot is going to expand very much in the short distances involved inside a home -- you'll basically be sending a column of lead the size of your thumb downrange.

Finally, if you do get a shotgun for home defense, take it out and shoot it! You don't want to be surprised by the recoil, flash, or sound if you use it for the first time in a urgent situation.

The other replies have provided many online sources for guns.

If you order from a web based gun retailer they have to ship it to a FFL gun dealer who will charge you a fee on top of what you already paid for the gun. You can't just order a gun online and get it shipped to your door.

Why not just go to a gun shop and buy a gun? if You want a mossberg 500 they are fairly common and shouldn't be hard to find in a shop. Any cost savings you get by purchasing online will probably be eaten up in fees.

Also the mossberg, or any other pump action shotgun does make a loud noise when the action is cycled and a round is chambered. One would think an intruder hearing the sound of a round being chambered would cause them to flee.

you could ask the phone company to bury your phone line???? Mine is already underground, was installed that way. I think that's how they do these days, no more wires from pole to house in the air.

Mossberg makes a great gun for home defense, they have several models just for that purpose.

Now by the loud noise when the 2nd round is chambered..not sure what your talking about there, the sound of the first round going off if going to be much louder than the racking and chambering the second round. I guess the question of asking is it good for woman to use needs a little more clearification--how familiar with firearms are they?

I have the Mossberg 500 and its a great gun,but unless you're a bigger woman it will probably be hard to shoulder for you since it is a long gun, mine is 48" long.

Do you want a 12 gauge or 20 gauge?

Here is the youth model, the stock is a bit shorter

    20 gauge http://www.budsgunshop.com/catalog/product_info.ph...

    Full size 12 gauge http://www.budsgunshop.com/catalog/product_info.ph...

Here is a full size with the short barrel

And here are a couple military style 590s

Edit:For the land line phone that cannot be cut by a robber I would have to suggest a type of internet phone that connects to your router, thats what we have.

Also having a cell phone would be a good idea.

EDIT:Forgot to add, load the gun with oo buckshot.

I have mine loaded with 4 rounds of oo buckshot with the last round being a rifled hollow point slug, then I have 2 oo buckshot and two rifled slugs on the stock in a fabric shell holder.

    J&G Sales

my 3 local FFLs seem to have a low opinion of bud's. they say Bud's screws up alot and tries to sell used guns as new guns. especially handguns.

I've bought quite a few things off J&G, each time they were fast and courteous. you cna get a nic AR, AK, Saiga 12, or what you said, Mossberg 500 from them cheap.

best phone solution is cell phone. land lines can be cut, unless you have it put below ground in a concrete vault, which would be $$$$$ pricey, cell phones are pretty secure. since they lack a physical connection, cannot be cut from service easily. most criminals lack access to high power signal jammers or sophisticated wireless phone tapping. unless you believe there are foreign spies (with military backing) or various international organized crime groups, there is pretty much zero chance the guy that's breaking in to steal your TV has a wireless signal jammer in place, and also have a wireless phone tapper that can trace of intercept every call you make. that's the stuff for the movies.

Source(s): as much as I don't like cell phones, they're still more secure than land lines because they cannot be cut easily. for home defense I have an AK-variant rifle. if the phone lines are cut I'd forget about the cops and focus on protecting myself first. they can come later to haul away the bullet-riddled bad guy.

actualy the 500 makes a really huge sound just a FEW SECONDS BEFORE THE SECOND ROUND IS CHAMBERED

the 500 with stock aint to bad but the pistol grip vervions without buttstock are a wee bit too much for most (not all) women

for female home defense i suggest a 18- 22 inch barrel 20 gauge pump

PLEASE BE AWARE THAT IT MAY BE ILLEGAL TO BUY FIREARMS ONLINE WHEREVER YOU LIVE SO CHECK LOCAL LAWS BEFORE EVEN CONSIDERING BUYING A FIREARM

Source(s): ABOVE LINK IS TO A GOOD ENOUGH SHOTGUN WITH SHORT BARREL (GOOD FOR SHORT DISTANCE OF HOME) USE A SINGLE LOAD OF TARGET SHOT FEDERAL 7.5SHOT LOAD WITH THE REST BEING BUCKSHOT FROM WHAT IVE BEEN TOLD SO YOU WOULD LOAD 3 BUCK SHOT THEN LOAD ONE TARGET ROUND A TARGET ROUND WILL KILL SOMEONE IF IT CLOSE DISTANCE AND WILL ALSO AVOID COLLATERAL DAMAGE ON OTHER YOU DO NOT INTEND TO DAMAGE.. ALSO THEY HAVE BETTER SPREAD THAN BUCK SHOT FOR BAD SHOOTERS
