If you're reading this then hello! The name I have comes from Robert (Bob) Theodore (The) Jackson (Jackson) and it may or may not be my real name. I am politically Conservative, but do have one or two moderate ideas. I currently live in CA, but plan to move to a better (politically) state in about half a decade. I am a member of the NRA and am pro-gun rights. I 'own' a Ruger 10/22. I'm 18 finally! I hate it when people don't use spell check, especially when Y! Answers has a built in version and also dislike people putting questions in the wrong section. I value honesty, respect, and hard work. Feel free to message me as I always enjoy a good chat or debate.

  • Who the hell is TrustedInstaller and how trustworthy are they?

I've got two csrss.exe processes both by this entity, aren't those effin' things Trojans or something?

  • Are cows the only mammals that always lactate?

If not, what other mammals don't only lactate for a set period of time?

  • What's the XM stand for in things like..?

The XM2010 and XM16E1? I doubt it stands for Xylophone Muncher, so what does it stand for? Or is it just a military designation or something?

  • Buying a Mosin-Nagant, scope question?

So I grew tired of Big 5 not getting any normal Mosins and have decided to get the one 'Sniper model' that they have. I've one question, though: how do I tell if the scope's legit? What sorta numbers should I be looking for.

Or am I just being a paranoid idiot and should I not worry about it?

  • Is there any SOLID evidence supporting this claim?

Electronic devices (laptops in particular) cause cancer?

I'm looking for solid evidence. Stuff from credible sources that highlights the fact that this claim is false.

No, this is not for homework (I took an English class last semester), I'm trying to convince my mother that electronics have not been proven to cause cancer.

If, on the other hand, that I'm wrong, then please provide SOLID and credible sources to back that claim.

  • What has better armor penetrating potential?

    .40 S&W or .45 GAP

This is for a fictional story, I don't plan on going after a bunch of cops or anything.

So, which would be better at penetrating armor? If I were to guess, it'd be .40 S&W due to the smaller projectile, but I've been wrong before.

  • Can I join the National Guard if I'm on a medication?

So I've got to take a medication for ADD. I know that in the military you can't get in if you're on meds, but what about the National Guard or regular Law Enforcement?

  • So I'm buying a Nagant in a few days, but I've got a quick question?

I'm getting it storebought so if they let me give it a look-over are there any things, Damage-wise, that I should look for to ensure that the rifle will work properly when fired?

Or am I just being a paranoid nut and do I not need to worry about there being problems.

I'll be getting the rifle at a nearby Big Five sporting goods store. I'm not a hundred percent sure if the rifle is used or what condition it's in, but it can't be anything too horrible.

(Fun fact: Yahoo wanted me to put this in a category for the Nintendo wii)

  • So who agree's with LaPierre on the blame part of this?

I read in the paper something about LaPierre (head of the NRA, I probably spelled his name wrong so my apologies) shifting the blame from guns to violent video games and slasher movies. Maybe I was a little hyped on painkillers (had some surgery recently) but I'm pretty sure that's what it said.

If this is untrue feel free to correct me. If not, do you agree that it's violent video games and slasher movies that makes psycopathic criminal shooters?

Note that I do agree with LaPierre on having a police presence in school, I just don't agree with him on where these shootings are coming from.

Asking this in hunting because at the end of the day it isn't the politicians who know about guns, it's us.

  • Is the Mosin-Nagant a junky rifle?

I guess one way to put it is: If you were taking a bolt-action rifle into battle, would you trust the Mosin to work and get the job done?

I know that the reason that they're so cheap is because there's over nine thousand of them, but is it also because they're junky guns? Or not?

The reason I ask is because I'm a dumbarse and already made the mistake of wasting my money on a Remington 770, I don't want to make that mistake again and end up buying another POFS.

  • Rusty barrel fixes, pellet rifle + rust remover?

So my Crosman Model 2100 was left out in the sun and the barrel got all coated in rust. I also think that some rust got inside the barrel as well. Obviously either replacing the rifle or barrel would work, but what about rust remover? You can't use rust remover, right? Or can you?

  • Can you keep a straight face when reading this quote?

Q: "If people didn't hunt, wouldn't the earth become overpopulated with animals? Explain why you feel that way."

A: "Not at all! Wildlife populations are self-regulating..."

Did you keep a straight face? I can't. The first time I read that I burst out laughing and facepalmed.

That's not the whole quote, but after reading that you know the idiot who said it doesn't know crap.

PS: The person who said it was Anne Muller, president of the Committee for the Abolition of Sport Hunting (CASH) in an interview in 2006.

  • What year was the female hunter ratio 9%?

Another question for an argumentative essay for hunting. The same lying scumbag that I'm fighting is quoted saying that "The last I looked, only 9% of hunters were female" (Muller). I want to wreck this cretin, so can anyone tell me when this statement was true?

    2 AnswersHunting8 years ago
  • What percentage of hunters are female?

Question is self explanatory. It's for a research paper.

Oh and 'not enough' or any form (while true) doesn't count as a percentage.

  • Curious question on deer hunting?

Why is it that in many places you can only hunt bucks? That does aren't fair game.

This is for a research paper, and to help shoot down an article that I'm using in my argument.

  • What's a quieter cartridge?

    .45 ACP or .45 GAP.

I would think that it'd be GAP since it's a shorter cartridge, but I've been wrong before. So which is it?

As always, all legit answers are appreciated.

  • If you're going faster than the speed of sound and you yell out..?

Will you be able to hear yourself or will it be left behind you? Kinda like a projectile weapon, if you're travelling at X speed and the projectile travels at Y velocity under normal circumstances then with you going at X the projectile will be travelling at X+Y speed. So If I'm travelling faster than ~1200 FPS and I yell out will I hear myself?

Obviously I will never be able to travel at ~1200 FPS since I would probably disintegrate, but that's not part of the question.

    All legitimate answers appreciated.

  • Is there any formal name for this type of trap?

It consists of a springy tree and some hardened spikes. The spikes are affixed to the end of the tree, which is cut down and turned on its side, suspended over the ground and held in place. The tree is pulled back and when released, it snaps around and impales whoever activated it with the spikes. I don't plan on making one, I'm just trying to see if there is a formal name for it.

  • Driving with a rifle not in my name?

So since I'm 18 I can finally go to the range on my own. However the rifle is still in my dad's name and I was wondering if there would be any legal issues with me having a rifle in his name without him there?

    All legitimate answers appreciated
