There is no such thing as an American race, nor is there a Mexican race. Your friend is seriously confused about what race is.
Caucasian, for example, is a race--but not all Caucasians are American and not all Americans are Caucasian.
It seems kind of silly and pointless to wonder what "race" a baby would be. It will be human, that's all that should matter to prospective parents.
