There are many great war movies. The one that had a visceral response in me, being a medical person....and many Veterans cannot see scenes like this without re-living their own experiences was:

The opening scene were amphibious craft landed on Omaha Beach in the movie: Saving Private Ryan.

Medically speaking, I felt it was pretty accurate of how capillary the human body is. I get chills just thinking about it.

I will check out "The Great Escape" Fat Oprah.

    There are several GREAT ones....

    1) Saving Private Ryan

    2) Apocalypse Now

    3) Black Hawk Down

    4) Full Metal Jacket

    5) The Hurt Locker

The Great Escape is a good movie but is more of an action flick than a true war movie. It's really watered down and doesn't show any of the true horrors of war like the 5 listed above do.

If you want a GREAT Intellectual war movie then try....
