What kind of server is right for me?

I am going to set up a network and I want a server involved. I need it to hold user accounts and files for about 5 computers. Which type, or even brand, would work? Also, which server OS should I use? All my computers run Windows.

Thanks.

Any server will work in this case, even an old PC that you don't use anymore. User accounts and file storage are not CPU and RAM intensive, so your only real requirement is the hard drive space. You should be using at least Windows Server 2003, but spring for 2008 if you can. You can get either SBS or Standard editions, either one will serve you well here. So to sum it up, your minimum requirements are:

    2.0 GHz Processor

    2.0 GB RAM

    1.0 TB Storage space

    Windows 2003 SBS
