Fox news"fair &balanced"?

I'm just curious why fox news sticks with the old fair and balanced slogan when they are apparently one of the most partisan networks on television.

I'm a conservative who doesn't like to be played a fool.

What would be some more fitting slogans.

"we've already decided for you"

In deciphering the language behind the "fair and balanced" slogan, Jon Stewart got O'Reilly to admit that they are "fair and balanced" only in that they believe the rest of the news is unforgivably liberal. So, to "balance" what is available on the airwaves, they take a decidedly conservative, rightwing slant on everything.

So, to an objective viewer, what does this mean?

Well, basically, it means that by themselves, they are NOT "fair and balanced."

And, they only offer a balance if you actually believe that all other news sources emphasize the insidious "liberal agenda."

But, to be fair, this kind of language appeals to their propaganda-loving, paranoid fan base.

So, they manage to get good ratings by pandering to them.

When I am walking the treadmill, I go back and forth from Fox to the Morning Joe on MSNBC or the Early Show and Today on NBC or to CNN, and I've got to tell you that the bias is so evident everywhere, except on Fox.

Fox really does give both sides of a story. You don't see that anywhere else

I doubt you are a Conservative and it is more likely you are a Liberal Troll... But nice try.

"Fair" and "Balanced" does NOT mean they won't carry an opinion but it just means they provide the opportunity to objection to the opinions.. Unlike MSNBC who only allows their point of view to be heard... The Opinions you hear are opinions of those who have heard BOTH sides and created an opinion of their own by such discussions and facts..

Fox News is "fair and balanced" in that, out of a sense of fairness, they use enough conservative spin to try to counterbalance all of the liberal spin they think they see in all other media combined.

The problem, which also applies to CNN and MSNBC, is most people cannot tell the difference between editorial commentary, and news reporting.

Name another station or cable network who comes down on the same side as FOX. There isn't one.

Isn't that interesting. Only one opposing voice against dozens and dozens and the libs go absolutely ballistic.

I think it's fantastic that you are conservative but understand that Fox only provides a very narrow view of politics. Good for you for making your own decisions!

Other news shows have opposing political views on their shows, they absolutely do. MSNBC's Rachel Maddow is more than willing to appear on any show or have anybody appear on hers. Fox's syndicate shows say some things that are blatantly untrue or skewed and never announce it.

    Everything is relative.

If you compare them to all the other channels which are leftist then they are the most fair and balanced.

When you've had the liberal media brainwashing you for your entire life, it can appear that Fox News leans to the right.

HOWEVER, they give multiple sides of every story and have never been caught lying or making up facts to back up an opinion - you know, like how CBS falsified documents to "prove" that GW Bush didn't complete his military service?

The COMMENTARY shows tend to be conservative, but that's because it's what people want to see. Liberals have tons of outlets for their opinions on TV and radio. Why is the left so incredibly terrified of opposing opinions? Could it be that their ideas are so weak they can't stand up to one single media outlet that doesn't parrot the same ideology?

    Wow. That's sad...

As fair and balanced as the Rosie O'donnel is likeable.
