North Korean soldier vs US/UK?

The US marine 'modus operandi' is somewhat different from that of the US Army. Same goes for the Royal Marines and the British Army. They do a lot of joint training, and anyone familiar with the history of the US Marine Corps would know they are not a 'pale imitation' of anything.

All that can be said of the North Korean Army, is that an artillery plan used in one large operation during the Korean War by the Royal Artillery, produced possibly the best textbook example of how to destroy large numbers of advancing infantry the military textbooks contain. The result was notably messy.

"Hopeless in combat" ? Ask the Germans and Japanese. Ask the Taliban and other terrorist groups who have opted to stay and fight a battle with American troops. Most of the time they fire a few shots and run away or hide a bomb and detonate it from a distance. They know better than to enter into a sustained fire fight with American troops who are very well trained in the use of small arms and combat strategy . The best marksman in the world is a US Marine.

I would like to know where you got your information concerning the superiority of the British Royal marines over the US Navy seals. Its a pretty strong statement and you should document your source or say that its just your opinion.

I have met a navy seal and a royal Marine commando (all royal marines are royal marine commandos by the way) and that is not a true statement.

If it was just man to man with rifles I would worry more but western Air and Armor would dominate.

North Korean Soldiers and Subs would do well.

The history of the North Koreans in combat is not good.

Their experiences in the Korean War did not work out as planned and they were pushed to the border with China. If not for the entry of the Chinese Army they would no longer exist.

They have inferior arms and equipment, and their loyalty is questionable.

Since you seem to think that U.S. military can not fight you are just looking for someone to agree with you, and not the truth.

Another question from someone who has never served or left the country other than via their TV set and know nothing of the politics of war and battle. The question is moot and does no good to assume who is inferior or superior. To be honest, the NK SOF could probably take any of them one-on-one...since their reason for fighting has a totally different mindset and strategy. It all comes down to whether the battle is about the game of Chess or the game of Go. BTW, China would never allow it to get to that point anyway. They like the status quo.

The average North Korean soldier is starving to death, and without any leadership, would probably surrender.

The only units they have that are getting fed are their Special Forces and units near the DMZ. But that isn't the "average North Korean soldier".

The US and the UK have better technology than North Korea, and US and UK soldiers are well-trained. I think a North Korean soldier would lose.
