If I upgrade my processor, could this PC play games well?

I have a Pentium 4 processor @ ~3.06GHz, Intel G41 internal graphics with 1024mb of memory, 2gb RAM.

I can't even play Minecraft at its lowest setting without it lagging. Is this due to my processor, or is the graphics card too ordinary too?

    You need a graphics card to run Minecraft. Onboard/built in graphics will not do.

    Get a basic graphics card your CPU and RAM are fine
