Dog bitting help ?*?
I have a black 7 month old cocker spaniel he's a working dog but. I don't work him he keeps snapping at people when in the house say u put ur hand in his mouth he moves his head away but sometimes if ur just sitting stroking him hell turn round nd bite u or if u stand next to his toy when he's playing with it he has neva snapped at me but had at my brother a few times is their any way to prevent this cause I really don't want to get ride of him help plz xx

Do you give him treats by hand? try giving treats in their dog bowl.
Whenever he bites you give him a firm NO and if he growls or bites hard give him a tap, a reasurring but not hard tap and a bigger NO. point your finger at him when you do this and give him an upset look. Don't keep petting him, he will probably get the impression that when i bite i get a bad face sometimes a tap and no more scratches. Maybe he has a sin problem that cause pain? if it doesn't look like it then just do the follwing.

I don't understand what you mean when you say he is a 'working dog'? If you mean he is from hunting lines, that could be part of the problem. If he is not getting the work he needs he has excess energy that is putting him over the edge. Or he could be displaying signs of erratic behavior associated with rage syndrome, it just hasn't fully manifest yet. I would talk to your vet about it. Or find a certified animal behaviorist who will work with you.

why would anyone put a hand in any dogs mouth??
find some other way to relate or play with it.
and some dogs do NOT LIKE STROKING, this is perceived by the dog as threatening as you are attempting to dominate it and he doesnt like it so dont do it.
so dont do things this dog dislikes. and then why would YOU continue doing these things???

a squirt bottle with water and spraying him when he miss behaves is always good. and if your brother is very active in your house hold have him show that he is domeniant as well.
