poll. are you a grammar/spelling Nazi?
Haha. Okay, so people caught me with my capitals. I don't like using them so much. But yes, I hate when people type everything short hand, or chat speak, as they call it. It's annoying. I used to be like them though, and then I turned 12. I do use Idk and lol though, just because.
And I'm sorry I offended someone? I didn't mean to?
To, too, and two. They're, their, there. That bothers me.
Also, mentally judging people is fun. :)

I'm a carpenter, not an English teacher, but I think spelling and punctuation have gotten worse in the age of electronic communication. I don't make a big deal about correcting people, because it isn't my job, but I try to make sure my writing is is proper and gets across what I want to say. It's one of the things that I like about YA - I get to think, not just about my answer, but how to spell and punctuate it.
I also think the term Nazi is way overused. I blame the "Seinfeld" show, but to compare someone who is fanatic or even strict about something as trivial as fashion or design to a group responsible for the genocide of over 6 million innocent people is unfair to folks that may just care a little too much about something, whether its soup or language.
When answering questions here, I never make fun of people's spelling or grammar, though I tend not to answer those that are really misspelled or mangled. I try not to offer my opinion in real life unless it's asked for and figure we all have enough unsolicited criticism in our lives.
Source(s): Just a carpenter who reads a lot. I know that there is usually a direct correlation between the ability to express oneself verbally or through the written word and overall intelligence, but I might be an exception. - 9 years ago
To an extent... It doesn't bother me about how people type anymore really because I'll just stress myself out trying to correct it. I'll correct it if they are a troll but otherwise I just let it go and try to answer the question. It makes no sense (In my opinion) to be little someone over ONE grammar mistake or misspelling anyone could have made.

Maybe just a little bit...!
i would NEVER correct your grammar while we were talking...!
However, I cringe when I see really stupid spelling or grammar errors in everyday writing or on Y/A.
Sometimes I cannot believe what people post as questions or answers! Don't they proofread their questions/answers!?!

nope. It kinda upsets me when people are too lazy to type things like ttyl or ppl, but I'm not going to throw a fit over it, and if it's an honest mistake or they are at least trying I don't care.

Sort of... like if someone doesn't capitalize something or use a comma, that's fine.. but if someone goes "I ain't doin nothing" it makes them sound like an idiot..

Kind of.
But I don't really correct people like I used to. I just mentally judge them.

To a certain extent. I make the same errors so I cannot complain about someone else's mistakes.
