Advice for Accommodation in Hoi An?
Hi Guys,
Me and my girlfriend are currently enjoying Ho Chi Minh. We're heading up to Hoi An in a couple of days, staying one night in Da Nang first.
For the first time ever, I'm really struggling to find a good place to stay. Can anyone recommend somewhere nice in Hoi An? Everywhere seems to be out of town and all the hostels seem pretty boring with not much going on.
We would really appreciate any information anyone has! Oh, and we are budget backpackers...so please keep that in mind when advising us.
On the other hand, if anyone has any general advice on how to spend our time in Hoi An, we'd be delighted to hear it. We like chilling at the beach, but we also enjoy wandering around exploring.

Don't know why Hoi An is so hard - this town has plenty of places. You do want to be "in town". I liked both the Nhi Trung and Dai Long - both cheap, clean and in the heart of town.

Stay in town!! There are loads of budget hotels along Ba Trieu Street (about 1km from the bus station). The hotels and guest houses here are more expensive than most places in Vietnam, but the quality is far better. Expect to get something fairly decent for about $15. Word of warning though, a fair few of them don't discount the rates for walk in guests, you generally get a better rate online - the usual sites. I worked in one for a while and most walk in's used the computer to book..
The beaches here are stunning- I'm heading off there now! Skip the tourist beach Cua Dai and head for An Bang Beach, it's actually nearer town (4kms) and you don't get hassled by the Betel nut chewers trying to sell you tat. Referenced: http://www.hoiantravelshow.com/hotels-in-hoi-an.ht...
Hire a bike and explore, it's hard to get lost and if you just venture a few km's out of town, it's beautiful, rural Vietnam. You can't get lost.
Probably the best advice I can give is to avoid getting clothes and shoes made. It will ruin your time here.
Hoi An is incredible, a real easy town, relaxed, friendly and charms your pants off. I hope you have a great time.

I'd try Phuong Dong on Ba Trieu or Dai Long on Hai Ba Trung, as daawgon also suggests.
