How to get rid of cold sores fast!?:(?

today i noticed a cold sore.:( it is pretty big and it's ugly! i know that you can't actually get rid of it, there's only things that can make it go away faster. also, i know that they will come back most likely from time to time. (i've done some research on them)

i went to the orthodontist yesterday and i also noticed i was coughing yesterday and had a stuffy nose. today, i am only coughing a tiny bit, though.. but i was reading and it said a cold can make one come. could my orthodontist appointment made it come? or my cold?

so i have Abreva, and Anbesol. so if i keep putting Abreva and Anbesol on, when do you think my cold sore will go away? and any other helpful tips will be appreciated.

and i couldn't have gotten a cold sore from someone else! i didn't kiss anyone... im 13, and i didn't share drinks or anything with people. plus, it's christmas break so i've only been seeing my family, and i don't really think any of them have every gotten a cold sore.

I got my first cold sore when I was 15. I thought it was some kind abberant pimple and tried popping it. I learned immediately not to do that. You're close when asking if your cold brought on the cold sore. They occur when your immune system is lower and not as strong to fight off the herpes simplex infection. The only way you and any of the rest of us who gets cold sores to begin with is by being infected at any point in our lives, even as an infant, by someone who had an active cold sore infection. It could have been by a kiss, or a spray of saliva, or sharing an eating utensil or drinking cup perhaps when you were too young to remember. It's at this young age experts suspect most of us have been infected. If its any consolation, the first one is usually the worst and take about 2 wks to heal. You're lucky this is over Xmas vacation. The most common triggers for getting a cold sore is too much exposure to strong sun, wind, stress and being overtired. Have you experienced any of this? I've noticed that trying to treat a cold sore that's already erupted can have varying results depending on the individual and various products that are tried. What works great for one person may not work so great for another. You'll notice over time a 'tingle' or ' numb' or even 'itchy' sensation somewhere on your lip the next time a cold sore is about to erupt, and that's the very location it will erupt. I used to get cold sores 4-5 times a year for many, many years. About 15 yrs ago, I found a seemingly obscure little herbal remedy in a health food store which changed my life because I haven't had a cold sore since except once when I woke up with one. I've recommended it many times on this board, its called Cold Sores Begone. Originally, it appealed to me because it wasn't a pill I had to swallow, which I've always had a hard time doing. So it works like this - when you feel that 'tingle', you immediately apply a couple of drops where you're feeling the tingle, and somehow, it stops the infection from going any further. In other words, the sore won't materialize. Early on, I would occasionally wake up with a cold sore, the tingle having occurred while I was sleeping, so I prevented that from happening ever again by applying Cold Sores Begone every single night before I go to bed. I moved a few years ago and couldn't find the product locally so I started ordering it online. Another cool thing, they used to charge for shipping, now its free. the product costs $10.99, here's the website. www.coldsoresbegone.com. Good luck, hopefully the worst is behind you. Who's to know if applying the Abreva or Anbesol will help or not or to what degree because you don't have anything to compare it to since this is your first one. Since you already have them both, it won't hurt to use them several times a day. I would alternate them throughout the day. And don't pick the scabs that will eventually form, it will set you way back in the healing process, perhaps starting all over again because pain in the mouth area is another trigger for a cold sore. And don't forget that when you have a cold sore, the virus is very contagious so don't do anything that could infect another person including sharing a towel or wash cloth. In fact, when you use a towel/wash cloth, keep it away from your sore; in fact, its best to get a fresh one everytime one is used because you risk rubbing your eyes or your genital area with it where it can spread to those areas, not a good thing. Just get some Cold Sores Begone so you don't get the cold sore to begin with, its just so much easier that way.

Herpes simplex virus is what creates cold sores/fever blisters. Anybody can contract it from drinking someone else's drink, a shared spoon, shared lip balm, and by kissing someone that is carrying HSV-1. The red bumps might be fairly sensitive blisters which can show up nearby the mouth, or also the inside of the mouth or nose, somewhere else on your face, and anywhere else on the skin.

They might surface simply because of elevated stress, the common cold, a fever, cold temperature, certain foods, or even too much sunshine. The region could start to tingle, itch, or burn, then the blister could show up. The sore may dry up and produce a yellowish crusting. They will stick around from seven days to fourteen days. An individual could attempt to cover it up the sore by using foundation, but this often would make it even worse.

To remove cold sores, a person might go about covering them with a cold sore specific product, employ lip balm with sunscreen, use aloe vera, take echinacea, vitamins C and also E, and definitely staying away from touching the cold sore. By adopting a few lifestyle changes, it is doable to stop cold sores and even inhibit cold sores from reoccurring.

Cold sores pop up every now and then, regardless of who you might have been kissing.

Try ignoring cold sores and apply corn starch as needed to palliate the pain.

Oh, and avoid all types of sugars.
