what made me smile was the news reports in NK, that said earthquakes and natural phenomenon were occurring when the leader died, as the "earth" was so upset.

Surely to god, these people can not actually believe all that can they?? If so, they need rescuing from this oppression surely

They would probably face disciplinary action of some kind. I saw the footage of them 'supposedly' crying and there were uniformed gunmen standing next to them.

This is, after all, probably the most totalitarian state that has ever existed. The whole country is virtually a concentration camp. Even the children are taken off the citizens by the state to be brainwashed in an authoritarian education system.

It's their custom. It’s really typical of the way the Koreans do their funerals. Hendrick Hamel was a Dutchman who landed on the shores of Korea, shipwrecked in the 1600s, and he wrote a book after he got out of Korea. And he said, when a father dies, the kin of the father run shrieking through the streets, pulling their hair, crying, weeping. Sometimes they do this for days. And North Korea has essentially taken this to a much higher level with apparently the whole nation doing this when the leader dies. So, it was quite an extravaganza, but I think entirely predictable.

in every North Korean house there is a government radio which cannot be turned off. 24 hour propaganda! Which is why they all act like they are heartbroken about KimJong

  • There's enough folks there to find loads that will look all upset. They have no need to bother with people who are indifferent or otherwise.

As it is, the most prosperous places are given to the "faithful". Their show-piece cities are populated by the "worthy".

    Source(s): So I've been told.
  • If they didn't cry the North Korean government would have to hire this cat to do the crying and it doesn't come cheap:

I read that somebody refused to take part in his Birthday celebrations and disappeared, of course you never do know if something like that could be true but it would not surprise me.

They would probably get sent to a work camp for being unpatriotic.
