How do they do it??? (20 characters)?
When I go to the yard in the morning I look very presentable. At the end of the day when I go home, My once beige jods are a mixture of poo green and mud brown, I've probably managed to get water all down my wellies, my feet are soaking and my face had all manner of things on it. I always feel scruffy because everyone else manages to keep themselves reasonably clean compared to me! Does anyone else have this trouble and if not, how do you manage to stay clean? I know horses are dirty but I feel as though people might look down on me because I get so into what I'm doing I don't really care about looking dirty :/

They probably keep themselves cleaner because they are not doing the work you are. They are probably the people who have someone groom their horse for them, tack up for them, muck out for them, basically do everything except riding for them. I always manage to somehow get poo on me, and when I'm actually working I'll sometimes look like I just took a dirt bath. I try to clean myself up through out the day by washing my hands/arms and wiping off my face, but generally if you are actually going to interact with a horse or do any work around the barn you are going to get dirty.

Hahaha, The people who arent getting dirty, arent doing anything. I got the the barn and when I come home my mom always notices this dark dirt line on my face the exact same spot everyday. I have no idea what its from, and how i get it, I really dont. I feel clean inside, until my friend comes next to me and is all, hey, youve got a little something on your face... I really dont care if im dirty, cuz theres really no way to stay clean!

your fine im always getting dirty it seems every time i go to my barn regardless what im doing i have enough dirt on my clothes to lay the area it feels like and enough hay in my pockets and bras to make a bale, try not to wear such light colors i like black jods for just schooling or barn work, invest in a pair of muck boots that come up to your knees there life savers and keep your riding boots nice, keep a change of clothes in the car i do in the summer if im doing alot of dirty work, i also keep a rag and a package of baby wipes to clean up after too, but playing in the mud is too fun to care some times and if your going home dirty you got something accomplished at the barn

You should feel good about yourself that you're dirty, it means you worked the hardest. Know how everybody else stays clean? They tell people like you to go do the work for them!
I'm proud when I come home and barely have enough energy to stand on my own two feet and I smell like crap because it means I did an awsome job today and got a lot of work done.

I have a certain set of clothes I wear for the dirty jobs - mucking out etc and get changed to my other stuff for riding etc. There's a sink and a mirror in the tackroom so I can actually get the hay out of my hair and the grit out of my teeth before I appear in public :)
Some materials/colours attract dirt - avoid these as much as possible and if you get dirty just shrug - at least you got dirty doing something you enjoy.

Two of the leading riders in my day always looked as if they just stepped out of GQ. They had the attitude that they were to good to get dirty and didn't. I, on the otherhand, ended up looking as if I were the most slovenly groom in the barn. OH well, they won a ton more races than I ever did but they both ended up working on the backside and not as trainers or assistant trainers. They never got their hands dirty and never learned to do anything more than ride.

The key to it - never wear beige, white or other light colours.
To stop too much water going in your wellies, tighten them at the top if you can so they are snug, but comfortable.

I LOVE it!(: That's what happens when you do WORK. Plus, it's nice to go home after a long day and get clean and refreshed with a HOT shower.(:

I'm one of those. I always feel like I get dirtier than everyone else when I'm at the barn.
It's normal.
