My head has been hurting ever since a shelf fell on my head?

On December 26th (Monday), a very large wooden shelf (about 20 lbs) fell and hit me right on the top of my head. I blacked out for a second, and was very dizzy and a bit delirious for a few minutes afterwards. Over the past week, I have been experiencing some really bad headaches, and I even almost passed out on Thursday. I'm not really sure if this is because of the shelf hitting my head, but I can't imagine what else it could be. I did go to a chiropractor on Thursday after I almost fainted, but I am still having the headaches. Do you think there is anything serious going on, or should I just brush it off and continue toughing it out until my head starts feeling better?

Update:

So I've looked up a bit about concussions, and I'm pretty sure that's what I have. So my next question: Is it okay if I don't go to the doctor? It's been almost a week since I had the concussion, so I'm sure it's already healing and will probably get better soon. I really don't want to go to the doctor, either. But let's say I did go. What exactly would the doctor do to help the concussion anyway?

Update 2:

@massage therapist: Sorry, I meant that I almost fainted, and then went to the chiropractor to have him realign my spine to see if that was a problem. My bad on the wording.

Even minor head trauma can have devastating consequences. Actor Liam Neeson's wife is a case in point http://seattletimes.nwsource.com/html/nationworld/... and your headaches should be a red flag. Better safe than sorry?? And shame on that chiropractor! And they want to be considered "primary health care providers" Yea right!

You might have a concussion, so it might be serious. Go to a doctor and tell him what happened, he'll know what to do.

You need to go see a neurologist asap. I think you have a concussion.

I'm pretty sure you got a concussion I think it would be best to go to the doctor to have it checked out for you as concussions are pretty serious because you're brain is literally jostled around in your head so I think you should go to a doctor
