Obviously I have not been keeping abreast of the idiots that skulk in the R/S shadows

We all know who you're talking about ;)
He still believes in the classical Chinese elements, which means he's way behind the times.

There are two sorts of people in these matters - the ones who know that they know any 'truth' is in fact such and can be verified, and ones who state 'truths' that are actually beliefs personally held by them that they believe to be true. They may well be, but it can't be claimed certain just because a lot of other people think the same
The first type of person will likely be useful in discussions of faith and religion, but the other type of person, although doubtless well-meaning, can cause a lot of confusion and problems in clarity amongst those who are trying to establish their own understanding.
It would be mean spirited indeed to have the objective of trying to denounce anyone's faith and strip away a pillar of comfort, meaning and belonging in life. I don't think there can be many who have 'debunking' their mission. Most people are probably unsure and receptive to listen to different arguments. Its a rhetorical question then, but why can't the same courtesy of allowing reasoned discussion be extended in return.
Where would we all be if we never questioned, yet insisted we were right all the time?
In a mess.
it's only recently that I've came across Yahoo Questions, and it's distressing there appear to be some desperately unhappy people out their crying for help. Some doubles attention seeking or hoaxing, but Im sure a lot are real in their distress. Reading around some of the questions,it's also apparent that may solutions of faith are offered. Which begs the question whether there are those from evangelical churches that look out for such vulnerable people to assert that God is the way, and the only way, they will find the answer. It's not though, and not right if it is indeed the case that saviours with only one solution are scanning for them. I find the thought of that really upsetting.
Balance and listen to each other. Please.

The only thing which debunks atheism is evidence for the existence of any god. It does not matter which god. Just evidence for any god will do. Thus far there is no evidence for the existence of any god, therefore there are still atheists. Even a Christian is an atheist in a way, since a Christian does not believe in any of the other of thousands of possible gods. An atheist simply believes in one less god; zero. Fire therefore cannot debunk atheism. Someone who claims that fire debunks atheism therefore obviously does not know what atheism is. It is best to ignore such people, since they obviously do not know what they are on about.

He believes that animals evolved from the elements, and that there is no animal associated with fire, evolution must be wrong.

the only way to disprove atheism is to prove the existence of god, but since that is impossible, atheism will never be "debunked"
