What are your favorite charity organizations?

Thought I would start off the year right by helping those in need. What are you favorite charities? Tell the name and what they do. Never donated to charity before, so not sure which one is right for me. For example I'd be way more willing to donate to a charity that helps feed starving people than a charity that helps lift wrinkles off the face of old rich people. Thanks.

ASPCA - because I love animals and don't want to see any suffering/abuse

Veterans' groups - because they've sacrificed a lot to protect us.

The Victims of Balcony Collapses is the only charity I find worth investing into.

Did you know that balcony collapses have been a serious problem and a health issue since the invention of balconies in 1784?

Livestrong, Love lance and what he does, great cyclist too

I also like the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation.

BTW, if you love animals, don't donate to the ASPCA, find a better animal charity, the ASPCA wants to stop people from keeping reptiles, birds, insects, or other "exotic" pets.

Non denominational charity like the Red Cross or Good Will. They don't convert in exchange of receiving aid.

  • I donate to Jewish Family Services. It assists people with food, medical needs, housing needs, and other issues, including mental health issues, abusive relationships, and addictions. They help anyone in the community who asks; you don't have to be Jewish (or any other faith) to receive help. Most cities of any size have one; they do a lot of good, in my opinion.
