Why are some Theists okay with....?

watching others have freedoms taken and suffer only because it keeps them more comfortable? pushing others down so they can live without their views being challenged? if they really have faith in their beliefs then why can't they take the comfort they need from that?

Because false prophets have convinced them that ripping apart loving gay families is an act of "love." It brings in lots of $$$ for the false prophets, but only leads the followers to hell.

The question is so vague that it leaves me confused. Which "theists" are "watching" this theft of freedom and suffering? How does it make those particular theists "more comfortable"? Does their religion permit them to refrain from getting involved? Does it *demand* that they get involved? Does it demand that they *not* get involved?

Do non-theists ever do these things? (USSR, China, Cuba) If so, why are you harping on theists?

As far as "pushing others down", theists generally do so when they perceive immorality in others - just as you (I'm sure) would "push others down" (given the opportunity) if those others were murderers or rapists or thieves or involved in some other behavior that you deem to be unacceptably immoral. Of course, there are certainly exceptions to this, and some theists "push others down" simply because the "others" are different in some way. The same, of course, is also true of non-theists!

Frankly: your "question" seems to be more of a whining session than a question with a specific objective. It seems to me that you are intentionally seeking "moral support" from others for an intentionally-unspecified situation. I suspect that you realize (or fear) that you would not receive as much "moral support" if you actually described the difficulty you are experiencing.

    No idea.

I'm against church and state, I don't believe mankind can handle it. Look at Iran or North Korea, I mean wtf? I'm for minimal government, I think it is a necessary evil but should be under our control, not vice versa.

I'm all for free speech and free expression (provided it's not inciting violence against another or wrongfully tarnishing their good name in which case I believe I may have to choke a b*tch).

I am comfortable in my faith. Others can bring me down all they want, it has no bearing on my relationship with God. I don't know why other theists cannot be content in their knowledge and understanding, my theory is that they are weak of faith and require validation from their peers.
