I think there is a reason why January is notoriously the flu season. Sure it's cold but I think after the build-up of Christmas and New Years, January is kind of bleak and people are a little down in spirits. You have to go back to work or school. You can't do too much because you probably spent a lot of money and energy over the holiday season and the next national holiday isn't until May and the next observed one, Valentines Day, is over a month away.

This is common for a lot of people.... The winter months can often be very dragging after Halloween an thanksgiving and Christmas. The school year is stuck in the middle and it feels like you're just going through the motions. The cold can be frustrating and lack of sun can ruin your mood as well.

im suffering from it right now. LOVE the feeling of going to the mall after halloween and the christmas decor, gifts and music starts getting put out. such an amazing feeling- even when the malls were busy with madness i loved it.

now that it's over, i feel like i'm on the verge of tears, remembering certain moments with family etc. very sad for me. our tree came down yesterday and our place looks bare. even looking at the weather makes me depressed. it could have been a rainy sunday afternoon before christmas and it would have been "cozy". if it's a rainy sunday afternoon now, it's depressing.

    sigh*

Lots of people do. It's always a bit of a letdown after looking forward to any event for a long time, and then it is over. I am not depressed this year, but I am sad about taking down the pretty decorations, :/

All the time. But hey, there are 12 days of Christmas, there are like 3 days left!

Oh yeeeeess!!!! I've always wondered the same thing because I get really down. Everyone else seems to be going on with their lives. It's such a lonely feeling. It goes from my favorite time of year to my least favorite - in like one day!

Unless if you live in the southern hemisphere, where school is in mid holiday and work isn't that bad over the summer.

Source(s): I live there :) I do not get this depressional stage,
