My fiancee & I were talking about our future plans for a family. I found out he was a twin, but his?

brother didn't make it. He also told me that his mom was a twin too. I was curious what are the chances of us having twins or multiples?

Because it's on the man's side, it's no different from the general population. Predispoition to fraternal twins is inherited from the mother's side, because it happens when the mother produces two eggs. Predisposition to having identical twins isn't inherited, I believe.

The odds of you having twins is just the same as the rest of the population.

Actually there are two ways to have twins. Two eggs get fertilized (fraternal twins) or one egg gets fertilized and then splits (identical twins).

Having a set of identical twins is random - no connection to heredity at all.

As far as fraternal twins go, the function that causes twins to occur (producing lots of eggs) is hereditary, but not necessarily the ability to fertilize them at the same time.

So in essence the only possible connection for twins and heredity is on the mother's side if she inherited the condition/ability/propensity for making a lot of eggs.

Identical twins are random the do not run in families. Fraternal twins can run in families on the mothers side if they carry the gene thats called hyper ovulation it lcauwes them to drop more than one egg. So I would say you have very slim chances. Sorry:-(

There is a very strong possibility of u 2 having twins 2/3 chance twins must run in his family or have dominate genes

Having twins -as far as I know- has nothing to do with genes. The chances of having a twin are very VERY small, the chances of having multiples are miniscule.
