how do you act when...?
I am in a stressful situation. be it Christmas, be it my birthday, be it what ever gift giving opportunity you choose, I seem to be stuck getting things I don't want or have very little use for. over 90% of the gits i received last year are sitting forgotten on a shelf or in a drawer. I've dropped hints here and there that I want two things in particular: a camcorder and a laptop. you guessed it, not a chance for those anytime soon. all I got of real interest is a Kindle. which I find useless right now: I got an app on my phone that does the same thing.
I recently posted on Facebook that, this year, I don't want anything, just money, this year, and my dear family is pissed off at me, saying that it's rude to post something like this and that I'm a jerk for not being grateful for the gifts I got.
how to act in this situation and how to get out of it? without getting things worse with the family and without me lying?

They want credit for giving you something without any thought or interest in what you think. It sucks. My ex husband would buy video games for his sister and she never touches them. Then he would take them and play them.
be nice about getting the gift.
Set up an Ebay account or got to an Ebay store and sell the items. They never see them anyway in a drawer. There is also Ibid or even craigslist.
I like ebay. If you have clothing you can put it in a lot starting at a base amount. you can even sell socks and underwear if you like.

I can't answer this question without being mean so I will sugar coat it. Try getting a part time job so you can save up to get a better gift for yourself. And whatever you have left over on the side give to others.
