Depression, help. Please and thank you?

what are the first steps i need to take about getting my depression under control. i try to eat regularly usually can, same with my sleeping habits, i work out moderately but none of the none conventional things are working. and the anxiety and over all depression is just getting to were i can not take it. iv talked to my parents but they just arent taking this seriously. im 20 and should need them (dont) so i need some help with what my first steps should/need to me.

    Go to a therapist or some sort of counselor! It is their job to guide you! They are the ones that really know how to help you. If you have any other close family or friends that you trust, talk to them, they know you best. Anti-depressants really do work, my best friend was on them and she said it really made a difference! Depression sucks, but it will all be over with. And if you think its taking too long to get better, just remember that everyday you're closer to the day where everything will be okay! (:

    Think positively I know it's hard cause I'm in the same position but trust me if u think in the right mindset and ne'er let anything or anyone bring u down ull be fine ur a strong individual push thro this shot live on the edge of life never let anyone push u around u are powerful .. Keep ursel busy be crazy and always be who you are an never change that for alot of people depression revolves around loneliness but it's because of their mind set . They think" omg my life is Fallon apart because I have no one here to support me " wen it should be" **** you guys I don't need y'all if u don't like me for me ur nOt worth my time , I only get to live once and I'm not gunna waste it morning over how lonly I am intend I'll live my life ! " **** depression your way above that **** .. You can do this I believe in you and if a complete stranger believes in you u should too never EVER give up

    I feel that talking to someone helps a lot. Someone like a friend that you can get feelings off your chest. Therapy is an option if you can afford it. Therapy focuses a lot on root causes. Why are you depressed and if you can bullet point those issues and attack them one by one you can see how to can overcome those feelings. A lot of the time we make our own issues bigger than they actually are. It sometimes takes someone outside of our head to say that everything is going to be okay. Maybe also seeing your local doctor to see if maybe after a diagnosis that something mild can be prescribed. Hope this helps and feel better.

    Benchmarking. I look at the people around me, know their problems, and I realize that I have a good life. Also when you preoccupy yourself with helping others, it takes attention away from you.
