How does the Christian right deal with the fact that Jesus was a socialist?

Healing the sick for free, telling his disciples to give all their belongings to the poor, the eye of a needle thing... Must be tough.

Update:

Ok, let's deal with some of the stupidity you've thrown at me so far:

I am not a liberal. I am a socialist. There is a huge difference. Liberalism is a capitalist ideology, believing that, among other things, businessmen should be liberated from interference from government. The Dems and GOP are both by definition liberal parties, Social and Classical respectively. See the idiocy in calling me a liberal?

Marx didn't invent socialism. It has existed since antiquity. Marx defined a certain brand of revolutionary socialism, which he called communism. Even if he had invented it, that doesn't mean someone in the past can't act like a socialist, does it?

Obama is not a socialist. He is a corporate shill just like the rest of the Republicans and Democrats. Stop assuming that just because I am left wing it means I love Obama. It makes you look stupid and frankly it's getting really annoying.

Socialist don't believe in stealing what people have earned. That what

The funny thing is that a lot of conservatives think themselves good Christians. They tithe their church and contribute to charity.

George W. Bush sincerely thought his plans to move social care to the churches would work. That is, until halfway through the first half of his first term in office when his officer in charge of that program confronted him with the fact that no money was provided to give to churches in need that wanted to take part in his plans.

    Faith only goes so far.

Jesus was around a long time before Marx laid out the principles of Socialism. In his time, there was no such thing as a Socialist. And what does a very difficult mountain pass know as "The Eye of a Needle" have to do with this?

  • Simple. Like literally 100% of those who can read with comprehension, we notice the extremely conspicuous fact that he never once advocated having your government FORCE OTHERS to pay to meet politically defined needs of politically chosen beneficiaries. Instead, he said YOU should address LEGITIMATE needs YOU identify and that you should open YOUR OWN wallet to do it. In other words, Christianity and Socialism are utterly antithetical to each other.

I won't get into the "eye of the needle" thing. If you were cognitively able to grasp it, you wouldn't be a leftist. Suffice it to say that you're wrong about that as well.

Feed the poor.... yeah you're right. Republicans must ball up into the fetal position and cry whenever they think about the fact that Jesus was a socialist and a humanitarian.

Your idea of "facts" shows you never read your Bible.

Like all Liberals, you only read the portions that you can use to distort information into your biased view of what you would like to think is reality.

Put the whole of the Holy Scriptures into context and you will be forced to see the Real Facts.

So tell us please why Judas, the only Liberal Socialist in his group, betrayed Jesus because Jesus told him he couldn't give all of their meager treasury to the poor?

The gifts Jesus gave were gifts from God. He didn't use the power of Government to Extort money from one person to give to another.

Obama isn't God. Neither was your Lord Karl Marx.

Because he wasn't. He was not political.

And the whole “rich man/camel through the eye of needle” Bible verse was a parable meant to illustrate to a rich man that HE would have problems getting into heaven because he didn’t know the word of God…at least not yet. The purpose of the parable was to get the rich man to THINK about what it takes for ANYONE to get into heaven.

Poor people sin…just because one is poor doesn’t give them a free pass into heaven. One could easily turn the parable on the poor if that poor person hasn’t accepted the word of God.

Must be tough for you liberals to fail on using Jesus and the Bible

I'm smart enough to know Jesus certainly was not a socialist and Karl Marx came 1800 years later.

They suck up the walk on water and loaves and fishes food pantry bits but leave it to the old man for Manifest Destiny and ignore spontaneous abortions by the murderous God.

    No need. He wasn't.

At no point did Jesus say "Give to the government so the government can give to the poor."

He merely said "Give to the poor."

Conservatives do so. You should try it. It will take that scowl off of your face.
