River Song story line?
Is anyone else tired of the River Song story line in Dr. Who? I personally always found the character annoying but that's my opinion. I'm not too happy with the current writing either: I found the season six finale left me wanting. I guess I just want a good shakeup in the direction the show is going.

What gets me is that The Doctor has been time travelling around Earth for somewhere between 300 to 600 years (in the old series, he mentions his age as 300 years and 600 years) so it's hard to believe he hasn't encountered anyone before River where their timelines were "backwards" - meaning his future occurred in her past, and vice-versa.
The closest I can recall from the old series was an episode when Ace was his companion, and The Doctor finds out that at some point in his future, he goes back in time into old England and pretends to be Merlin. Yes, THAT Merlin. Makes me wonder what other things he might have on his "To Do In The Future" list ;-)
