By and large, the general populace is in favor of it. The problem is that they'd have to vote on it and approve it. We all know that they have no problem approving raises for themselves, but do you think they'd actually vote in favor of a bill they would impose term limits?

I love the idea of limiting terms for the Senate and House of Representatives.

However, how about placing those term limits on the party, rather than the candidate?

For instance, if a Republican Senator has served 2 terms, and that's the limit, then no other Republican could run for that position.

Wouldn't term limits on parties shake up the system?

Don't we need to shake up the system since it's so miserably failing?

Absolutely, only 1-4 year term for both House and Senate with 1-2 year term after 1st served. No more than 6 years total. For President, 1-5 year term, just enough to get stuff down and if a bad President, hopefully not enough time to destroy us. Of course, Obama should only be allowed 3 years, 1 more year could totally destroy us. This way there would be no more spending their last year campaigning and not the big advantage of having their re-election being bought. It is time we return to having public work be honorable and not a place to become rich, corrupt and full of power. OKAY, I can dream can't I?

We have a system now, its called elections.

If your district has an excellent representative, why change?

Also, the longer they are there, hopefully the better they get.

The ones that don't, vote them out.

Great idea but it won't happen because those very politicians control the process that would make it the law.

No thanks. I'd rather repeal the 22nd Amendment in order to unlimit the President.
