What kind of sacrifice did Jesus really make ?

Granted he suffered whipping a crown of thorns and ended up dying on a cross . During the course of a day and a half. There are people who suffer as much for much longer periods of time without the option of rising from the dead . Would it not have been a real sacrifice if Jesus had stayed dead ?

Update:

Jesus had all the sins of the world on his back when he died . Were they there when he arose again does he still bear that burden

Update 2:

Mark: If your god then coming back to face your oppressors is a piece of cake

Update 3:

lydiav12 : The bible says that Jesus rose body and soul

If you knew all the things, good or bad, that were going to happen to you in your lifetime, would you have the courage to live it anyway and not change a thing?

So it was with Jesus. He lived his life fully, knowing the outcome, and didn't change a thing. That was the sacrifice.

The sins of the world were redeemed in the blood of Christ at death. Souls don't take burdens with them when the body dies. Our lives are shed like jackets at death and the soul is freed.

We are all God for surely our souls are a spark of the Divine. If that statement is true then the oppressors we face are ourselves.

The bible is what is called "Faction" A fictional story set in a factual time and place. Thus the time, place and real historical characters are all correct but the fictional characters and stories are not!

There is not one single mention of Jesus in the entire Roman record - that is right - not one! At the same time as he was supposed to have been around there were a number of Jews claiming to be the messiah - all of whom are well recorded!

There is not a single contemporary record from any source and even the bible mentions of him like all other references were not written until many years after his supposed death!

He was supposed to have been a huge problem to the Romans and produced wonderful miracles but still not one contemporary record?

Even the bible mentions of him like all other references were not written until many years after his supposed death!

Pilate is recorded in the Roman record as a somewhat lack luster man but no mention of a Jesus, a trial or crucifixion that would surely have been used to make him look brighter!

At best he was an amalgam of those others but almost certainly never existed!

    None whatsoever. Consider these points:

If this god designated his son to die for mankind in order to absolve them of sin, then what choice did this Jesus have in the matter? None. He didn't voluntarily die to "save" anyone.

If this Jesus knew for sure he was going to be resurrected/going to a better place, how was dying a sacrifice?

If the dying process was painful and that was the sacrifice, in the whole of human history there are millions of others who suffered more pain than him, so why didn't god choose the most painful dying process (following the already weird logic that god needs to sacrifice a version of himself in order to get himself to forgive us) to max out the "love" demonstrated?

certainly He did die, yet He become resurrected. that's important considering's a super sacrifice for the giver of all existence to go through a dying that He on my own would not deserve. And it become no longer basically dying, the evil that we go through each and on a daily basis, our starvation, our exhaustion, our discomforts, have been all suffered with the help of God in the personage of Jesus Christ. He did no longer deserve it, He did no longer ought to do it. He could have sat very surely on His throne for eternity, yet He decreased Himself to our existence, to maintain a wretch like me. desire that helps.

The sacrifice was that Jesus willingly, out of his own desire, gave up all the power of the being that created the entire universe. Think about it, if he'd wanted to, he could have snapped his fingers and been free, he could have turned the Romans into mosquitoes, he could have avoided death and any pain. He gave all that up out of his love for humanity.

Besides, staying dead is easy, coming BACK from the dead to deal with the people who just killed you? That takes guts.

He shattered His Body into trillions of pieces of bread.

Nobody has ever done that before....as if His life became strength for others....and if so, to the helpless, is this not something that gives hope? The weak have nothing.

...sometimes all people have is their faith.

Yes, His death was important, but so was His life.

I don't think you understand. Jesus had all the sins of the world placed on His back. All the pain, hatred, and evil of every human being who ever lived. He died the most horrible death of all time. Is it that you don't believe in sin?

Jesus did not sacrfice himself for us. He was merely showing us (metaphorically) that we must stand up for what we believe in. Of course, most Christians don`t know this because they read the 400th generation of the Bible.

Source(s): Christian, have read almost every version of the Bible. Greek Bibles are very different than today`s.
