Why are there so many atheists in the religion and spirituality section of yahoo?

Why are you so ignorant of what an atheist is?!

More to the point if you do not know what an atheist is why are you so intolerant, hate filled, bigoted and persecuting towards them?!

ATHEIST - someone who does not believe in a God – any God – not just the Christian one. But that does not mean they do not hold strong moral or religious beliefs! They can follow any religion that does not have a god and there are a lot of those!

Like BUDDHISM – Religious teaching from Buddha and his followers that by destroying greed, hatred and delusion (the cause of all suffering) man can attain perfect enlightenment!

Where do you think christianity got it's ideas of a soul and afterlife from for goodness sake?

They stole it from the pagan tribes and peoples which existed hundreds and thousands of years before christianity!

From the stone age through vikings, Egyptians, Maoris, Aborigines, American Indians and especially the chinese, they all had elaborate funerals and grave goods to speed the soul into the next life with comfort!

Add christians and muslims together and they amount to just under a third of the world population the majority of the rest is made up of atheists and religions without gods!! So they are in the majority here!

This section is ABOUT religion and spirituality, not FOR the religious and/or spiritual. And, this is a public forum, so what's your complaint? Also, some religions are atheistic (buddhism, taoism, etc.) and have every right to be here too.

Because the religion of others effects my society, my community, and people I know. And people I don't know. I try to help them through it. It's kind of presumptuous for you to expect that only adherents of religions have an interest in religion.

Maybe next time you can look at all the thousands of times other people on Y!A asked this question and already got answers.

Because this is a section ABOUT religion and spirituality, and since many of us are formerly religious we have opinions and knowledge about the topic. It's not a section FOR the religious to proselytize.

Oh dear, this question again!!!! If all the answers seem polished it is because we have written them over and over. Some atheists even keep their answer to this question on file so they can copy and paste. With out alternative views on this forum, Christians would just write walls of verse to each other and be a self congratulatory happy clappy Kum Ba Ya group.

Because we get asked questions very often.

Second atheism is mutually exclusive to theism, without theism there wouldn't be atheism so in fact we belong here as long as there is no atheism category on Y!A

Because religion is bad and causes bad things.

Religious people are trying to force atheists to follow their rules, and we don't want that. And it causes discrimination,murder,terrorism,etc.

To get you guys to stop hurting people we have to show you that you are wrong.

If one isn't a cat,then why is one so interested in the cats?
