Is 1.3 megapixels good for making videos on a laptop?

I'm looking into getting a webcam or camcorder to make youtube videos with, and I found one that said "1.3 megapixel hardware sensor and 5.0 megapixel via software interpolation" so what exactly does that mean, and would it be good for making videos with? I just want a clear image, and good sound, and I'm just not that good with technology...

1.3 megapixels is worse than most cellphone cameras. Forget about the "software inerpolation" hype, as that's usually tech-gibberish for a poor camera with exaggerated specs.

No telling about the sound, but the image should be pretty low quality.

You'd do better off with a p&s digital camera with video capabilities.

No. Dont make Videos with a webcam. because its Quality is never good. and it would discourage people to watch your videos due to the poor quality. Just Get a Point and Shoot that shoots 720p Videos. Suggestions--Kodak Zi8, Play Sport. you will need also a tripod.

Absolutely not. My iphone has more megapixels. You'll get a bad result.

    Maybe 8.0 above will do.
