Disappointed, but I guess I should have seen it coming. He wouldn't want another year as the DH, and wouldn't want to go to another team. He'll be greatly missed.

It will be a sad day but I think it's time. The team has been moving forward and Posada's skills have been fading. He is a Yankee and remain such. I think that's a good thing. I would really like to see the Yankees honor him is some way. They have yet to do it for Bernie so I have my doubts.

BQ: This is easy. Let's go back to the 2003 ALCS. Remember the blowout between him and Pedro Martinez? It started with the game when Zim got knocked to the ground by Pedro. Then Pedro motioned to Posada how he was going to throw at his head. For a moment I thought Jorge was going to jump out of the dugout and go after him.

Anyway, now it's game 7 and the Yankees are trailing late in the game. The Yankees start coming back and suddenly it's Pedro facing Posada with a chance to tie the game. Posada doubles and the stadium goes nuts! I can see it now, Posada pumping his fists as he stood on second base and Pedro hanging his head as he was taken out of the game. We all know what happened 30 minutes later........Aaron "Freakin" Boone. That's the Red Sox talking!! lol

One of the three entire career Yankees (Rivera and Jeter) who are getting to the end of their careers. Pettite retired before last year. Jeter will be next in a year or two.

BQ: Pedro Martinez pointing at his head and staring at Posada in the 2003 ALCS. As a Red Sox fan, my favorite Posada memories are going to be bad ones for the Yankees, not a hit off Pedro in game 7, which while the least favorite is probably the most memorable.

He was one of the baseball players who has always been playing since I started to watch baseball, so it's a little different to see him go. It's breaking up the Yankees in a way.....it used to be Posada and Jeter and Petitte and Clemens and Williams and so much more. Now, it's just Jeter left it seems.

He had a great career but as of late (as we know), he just couldn't compete to be on the roster. It almost seemed as if the Yankees were keeping him there because of what he meant to them (which is fine). It was his time to go, simply.

    Good career fo sho!

BQ: Sadly, I don't remember much from Posada. I guess that Derek Jeter play is my best/only memory.....where Jeter ran from shortstop to cut off the throw and shovel pass it to Posada to get the out.. Yep.....that's my memory. I suppose I can't call it the Derek Jeter play now.....it's now renamed the Jorge Posada play.

Posada realizes his time has come. As a Yankees fan I'll miss him behind the plate and at the plate. He might make the Hall of Fame but he's one in my world. Look forward to see him in Yankees Legends Day!

BQ= Catching David Wells perfect game on 5/17/98.

That's too bad, I always hate it when a notable player retires, or can't get a contract.

While I don't think he's a HOFer, I DO think the Yankees should retire his number. If it were up to me, I'd wait until Derek Jeter retires, and then retire the numbers for Jeter, Rivera, Posada, Pettitte, Bernie Williams and Joe Torre, all at once in a super-duper retirement ceremony.

Jorge is my favorite player. I am really happy that he gets to retire as a Yankee and I know that he will be very happy to spend more time with his family.

BQ= My favorite moment was the game against the Texas Rangers. When the runner collided with him at the plate and he still got him out and then later on got the winning run.

I just recently heard and all of us here in New York (well at least the Yankees fans) will surely miss him. It's been an honor having you here Jorge.

BQ: I guess it would be either his bloop tying double in the 2003 ALCS or him being the first to homer at the new Yankee Stadium.

Great catcher. I can't see Posada not in a Yankees uniform next year. Cashman won't offer him a contract, so he probably doesn't want to go to another team, and decides to retire.

Interesting. I think he may pull a Brett Farve at one point. It seems at the end of the 2011 season he wanted to play again, so it may have to do with the level of interest other teams had in him.

Great player, a winner, and a good part of the yankee greatness in the 90s-00s.

He should have done it last year.

The Yankees should retire his number, and put them in THEIR Hall of Fame, but there's no way he's a Cooperstown inductee.

BQ: Getting tagged out by Josh Beckett for the final out of the 2003 World Series.
