  • Should Matt Ryan declare that he's an elite QB?

Eli Manning declares that he's an elite QB in 2011, he wins the Super Bowl...

Joe Flacco declares that he's an elite QB in 2012, he's going to the Super Bowl...

    Should Matt Ryan be next?

  • Favorite player on....?

In this question, you answer "Who is favorite player on the previous poster's team?"

    How it works:

My favorite team is the Miami Marlins.

The first person to answer tells me who their favorite Miami Marlin is (say, Giancarlo Stanton), then says who their favorite team is (say, the Minnesota Twins).

The next person says who their favorite Minnesota Twin is, then what their favorite team is.

  • Why should Andy Pettitte get more Hall of Fame votes than Kevin Brown?

    Kevin Brown 211-144 3.28 ERA, 2397 K (6.63 K/9), 72 CG, 17 ShO, 1.22 WHIP, 77.2 WAR

    Andy Pettitte 243-141 3.87 ERA, 2310 K (6.68 K/9), 25 CG, 4 ShO, 1.35 WHIP, 68.4 WAR

    Accolades:

    Kevin Brown 6 x All-Star, 5 x Cy Young top-10

    Andy Pettitte 3 x All-Star, 5 x Cy Young top-10

    Lead league in:

    Kevin Brown W: 1, K: 0, ERA: 2, WHIP: 2

    Andy Pettitte W: 1, K: 0, ERA: 0, WHIP: 0

    Hall of Fame:

    Kevin Brown: 2.1%

    Andy Pettitte: ??

People (rather, Yankee fans and ESPN) often suggest that Pettitte "belongs" in the hall of fame, but he's nearly identical (perhaps a little worse) than Kevin Brown... who got less than 3% of the vote. Can someone make a real argument for Pettitte in the Hall of Fame?

  • All-Star voting results. Name one player....?

Name one player who should not be in the lead for his position.

Name one player who should be higher in the polling for their position than they are.

  • Who is the most undeserving All-Star?

    http://mlb.mlb.com/mlb/events/all_star/y2012/ballo...

We can now start voting for the MLB All-Star game... which is sort of ridiculous. Anyhow, I remember people complaining about Jeter getting elected last year to start. My question is, which player do you think is the most undeserving All-Star of ALL TIME?

  • Yankee fans: Why aren't you Met fans?

The response from Yankee fans I see on the internet (upon being called bandwagoners) is that they are supporting their local team. But... there are two local teams, aren't there? There are the Yankees fans, which are always around, and the rare and elusive Mets fans.

If local Yankee fans are not bandwagoners, then why did they choose the Yankees of the Mets? Their disdain for the color orange? An inexplicable phobia of facial hair?

  • Who is the quintessential replacement player?

Most fans know about the concept of "wins above replacement," where a "replacement" is a AAA player. But, I am curious, who personifies the "replacement player"? Which player has the most games / longest career with a offensive and defensive WAR between -1 and 1?

  • How many seasons for Guillen?

The former White Sox managers has announced that he will be the new Miami Marlins managers starting in 2012. Ozzie got his start in coaching with the Montreal Expos, and moved over to the Florida Marlins in the infamous sale of the doomed Expos franchise.Guillen was the 3B coach for the 2003 World Championship team.

How long do you think Guillen will last in Miami? We've seen Loria dump managers who don't fall into line, no matter their on field performance... like Joe Girardi. But, we have also seen that Loria can be loyal to those he likes, such as current interim Manager Jack McKeon.

  • What's the best player your team has ever DRAFTED?

Unlike other professional sports leagues, MLB draft picks have a way of not ever playing for the team that drafted them. So, who is the best player your team ever DRAFTED, and what did you team do with them? (We're talking about ametuer draft, not rule 5 drafts or expansion drafts.)

Marlins: Adrian Gonzalez: Traded to the Rangers for Ugeth Urbina in 2003.

  • Your team's best / worst acquisition of the last off-season?

Every year before spring training, there are proclaimations that this free agent or that free agent will change everything for your team... and every year some level headed person will say "we'll have to see how it plays out during the season."

Well, with the season almost over, who was your team's best and worst off season pickup? Keep in mind that I'm not talking about deadline trades, I'm talking about deals that took place between November 2010 and opening day 2011.

    Best: Omar Infante

    Worst: Javier Vasquez
