rough idea of tattoo pain?
I want a tattoo on my upper arm. I am not too bad with pain but I was wondering roughly how awful is it? I have a fear of needles but I love tattoos so I figure I should grin and bear it. I understand everyone has different levels of tolerance but can anyone describe their personal experience and what type of pain it was? Thanks

First they don't use needles put pins. There is no hole in it. The depth is only 1/16 of an inch under the skin or about 1/10 of a typical needle stick. Bottom line it's no big deal. Stop worrying and get your tattoo.

I have two tattoos, one on my ribs and one on my upper/inner arm...the one on my arm hurt a lot worse than the one on my ribs, but ive heard that the outer arm doesn't hurt too bad.. also its my opinion that shading hurts a little worse than something that is just lettering because they have to go over the same spots a few times..i think it feels a bit like a cat scratch
if you really want the tattoo you can get through it, it hurts but its not unbearable
good luck!

I have two tattoos- one on my hips going onto my stomach and one on my rib cage. Many people think that it hurts more on bonier parts of the body but it completely varies. For me my rib cage was a walk in the park, my hip one hurt more going across my belly on the flabbier parts. The pain is so completely barable and I found having a cartilidge piercing more painful. The pain for tattoos is kind of like a chinese burn I find.

Like someone is scratching your sunburn, It's not bad at all (at least for me) but hopefully it doesn't hurt for you either =)
