I did Air Force JROTC all 4 years of high school and loved it. Do you have a drill team? We went all over the country for drill competitions (FL, GA, Wash DC, SC, NY, NJ) and it was a lot of fun. Lots of dating and hooking up on the side. We had a cafe in our room so there was a constant stream of delicious fresh bagels to eat during class. If you're interested in joining the military later it will give you good experience. There is no military contract or obligation, you can be in JROTC and never join the military. Try it out, do your best and have fun with it.
Edited to add:
JROTC isn't only for people who want to join the military, and it isn't a tool used to recruit people. I think some are confusing high school JROTC for ROTC in college. JROTC is for anyone, I would say most people who were in my unit never went into the military.

Well it relies who your instructor is, however in my JROTC you do not precisely have got to do so much and it does no longer intrude with ANYTHING. I could advise getting it simply in case if you happen to ever plan on doing the army as a again up. What I imply via that is that I had desired to do school however the fees have been technique to so much, so now I'm making plans to become a member of the army, however unfortunately that is my first 12 months in JROTC and I'm approximately to graduate so I may not get the automated two rank promoting whilst I become a member of (have got to be in JROTC for three years to get this)

It is a basically a way to get ready to sign up for the Air Force.
While the discipline is very good for people who are intending to go into the service, it isn't for you unless that is your plan. If you are not driven to join the military (which doesn't sound like you), this isnt a good idea. You could easily get swept up into something you didn't intend to sign up for, and end up in a war zone.
The military is a honorable place to be, but only if that is what you want to do with your life.
It isn't something you should be signing up for, for lack of something else to do. This is very serious business, and while Southern NH is a quiet place, there is plenty you should be able to do without signing up for ROTC. Even this program feeds into other things that are in the area, for which you would not have to be in pre-military training to participate.
Think about what you are good at, and what you love to do - and then find out how to get involved.
You aren't that far away from Massachusetts,a nd there is a lot going on around Boston, that often has ties to volunteers and workers in NH. There is so much from which to choose - don't get fooled into thinking Nh is all there is. You're a short trip away from a huge choice of almost anything in the world you'd like to do.

Unless you're planning on being an officer in the air force don't take it.
