what is the difference between cos and Cos?

im given the equation, find answer in degrees

    I learned the difference to be Cos refers to the first quadrant reference angle and cos refers to any other angle. With this interpretation, arccos (-sqrt(3)/2) would be either 150 or 210 degrees (5pi/6 or 7pi/6 radians) depending on additional information about which quadrant the angle might be in (a calculator would almost certainly reference the quadrant II angle) but arcCos (-sqrt(3)/2) would be 30 degrees or pi/6 radians.
