If faith is a good reason to believe in Christianity, then why isn't it a good reason to believe in Islam?

If "the presence of God" counts as good evidence for Christians, then why isn't it considered good evidence for Hindus?

Update:

"Islam aims to lead peole astray from God and Jesus Christ."

According to this faqih I've been talking to, Islam exists solely to lead people to God. He's given just as much evidence to believe that as you have given to believe your claim. :)

    Faith is no such thing.

Faith is only that which keeps you from changing your mind with each doubt that comes along.

Some doubts are based on new facts or information which causes us to reconsider and develop new reasoning on an issue, but often doubts are based on fears and imagination that do not warrant such consideration, this is where faith comes into play.

Faith is only trusting in the good reasoning you previously had before your current circumstances.

    Hope that helps.

(?) If faith is a good reason to believe in Christianity, then why isn't it a good reason to believe in Islam?

    (A) There is a difference between true faith and false faith. True faith is born in the heart by the exposure to the grace of God (revelation) as Abraham received for his obedience to the covenant. False faith is born out of tradition where the obedience of the heart is to that form of knowledge that dictates social issues and the moral code (what is right and wrong by the commandments of men).

The "presence" of God is not the criteria for true faith because people can feign this phenomena to claim authenticity of doctrine and practice. God's witness is greater than mans where the tokens for confirmation of authenticity cannot be with pretence.

May I share some ideas that may be new to you? Among mature Christians, faith is not a reason to believe, faith is a pattern in awareness, and a process of relationship with the Holy. There are many definitions and meanings for the idea of “faith”. Where faith is understood as an aspect of divine fullness and sacred person, faith is a sacred substance and cannot be separated from grace, holiness, humility, love, righteousness, truth, and wrath against sin.

While humanity contains a measure of faith through divine creation, for sacred purposes of redemption and salvation mankind must first receive and then obey the dictates of added endowments of faith. Here, faith is never a human operation of believing, desiring, wanting or trusting. Faith comes only through the imparted Spirit of GOD that is also conveyed through the word of GOD. Thus, faith is the operation of GOD wherein humans are instruments to carryout and perform the expressions of divine will made present by word and spirit.

Many refuse any belief that GOD interacts or influences mankind from within individuals. Equally offensive to such are ideas of divine spirit power or spirit presence; intimacy and love between Creator and created; and forbearance, forgiveness or mercy in judgment. Emphasis upon human and secular reality does not permit the high knowledge of GOD, and faith as an attribute of GOD.

There is far more to be said, rightly understood, and spiritually apprehended. (For example, faith toward GOD is very different from faith toward the law--the contracts and covenants granted the Jews, and their ordinances and statutes. The social process identified by law is distinct from the process of inner being vital to faith. A believer displays a content of divine spirit that is acquired only as he is “born again” connecting to the righteousness of Jesus Christ.) Even so, I trust this “fragment” will be useful. Be it unto you according to your faith.

Give up on faith. We all know that religion in general is false. Seek the truth , the truth is important. Start looking at scientific proof. Base your life on evidence. You life will be so much more fulfilled , and rewarding. The truth is a thousand times more interesting than anything a holy book can tell you

I have no problem with others beliefs. I studied other beliefs and went back to my roots of Christianity. I find just focusing on cleaning up "my side of the street" keeps me humble and non judgmental towards what others believe. Tolerance is the key to personal peace of mind.

it is a good enough reason

other people cant make decisions like that for you

go Hindu it up if you believe it with all your heart

No. You have the argument slightly reversed. It should be more like this: Christ is a good reason to have faith.

If faith is everything, faith in one religion is as good as faith in another. Good point.

I like Indian food, so I guess I'll throw my blind faith on Hinduism.
