  • Scientifically and literally, True or False: Anything that can be defined exists.?

For example, do Cap 'n' Crunch, The Easter Bunny, and Scooby Doo exist?

Yes they are not real in physical form but most of us get some type of idea or mental image when you say their names.

  • Why arent there more female farmers?

Seems it is sexist if most people who cook and prepare the food are women

Should be sexist if its mostly men who are growing the food.

I challenge all men to call sexism. If you meet a male farmer you must ridicule him for holding to sexist stereotypes. We are men! Hear us roar!

  • When did Western Culture start changing married women's last names?

Im reading a historical fiction novel about medievel England when marriages were arranged for politics and wars. I notice all the women still keep the last name they were born with after marriage.

When in real history did women start changing their last names?

  • What would you do if you were king/queen?

Say it is 800 years ago and you are king or queen and your army conquers a city, then you make slavery illegal. Then a few days later a rich man comes to you and this happens....

Rich Man: I just saw one of my old slaves digging a ditch when I arrived, he was never one to do that type of work. Perhaps he is being forced against his will? Surely not, since you have made slavery illegal.

King: He is being paid in food and shelter.

Rich Man: Perhaps I can give you silk and gold for him?

King: He is digging a ditch to bring water to the city, we need water more than silk and gold.

Rich Man: But when he saw me he got on his knees and begged me to buy him back into slavery, surely you can find another man to dig your ditch.

What would you say to this rich man if you were king/queen and what is your gender?

  • Should historical films based on fact face more scrutiny?

If we like it or not, filmmakers are new historians, people remember these hollywood movies about history as being the factual way it happened.

I see a lot of people pitching their movie as historically accurate, yet when you ask them about specific questionable details they start talking about entertainment and artistic license.

  • Voluntary Slavery, would you still be a "slaver"?

I need help for an argument.

Ok, say a king conquers some cities and frees all the slaves. and makes slavery illegal.

Then days later a rich man comes to the king and says "I saw one of my old slaves digging a ditch outside your walls, he is not the type do such work, perhaps he is being forced against will? But you have made slavery illegal here"

The king says "He is being paid in food and shelter"

The rich man replies "perhaps i can give you gifts of incense and spices for him"

The king says "He is digging a ditch to bring water, the city needs water more than incense and spices"

The rich man says "But he got on his knees and begged me to buy him back into slavery"

Finally the king replies "ok, buy him"

Can the king still be called a slaver here? Im trying to make the argument that hes a good king, but the other side says hes only agaonst slavery when it suits him.

  • Whats the difference between trolling and satire?

I mean good trolling, not obvious ones like "why do cons/libs do this or that"

I see trolling as new millenium satire, if done well

  • Whats this mythical "constitution" thing?

I see ppl ranting about it like it means something

And on tv, when the lawyer says "youre honor! The constitution guarantees this and that" then the judge goes "well i cant go against the constitution"

that **** does not happen in a real courtroom

Only time ive heard the constituion applied in court is in Supreme Court cases, even then they interpret it unconsistently
