The reason why satan does what he does is because he wants to prove God to be a liar.
He got kicked out of heaven because he wanted to be on the same level as God. He told God that people would not serve him and that he (satan) could tempt all of us to do his will instead of Gods.

He wants to be worshiped like God but that does not belong to him so he was thrown out of Heaven and came to earth. He's angry for he knows he has a short period of time. He also knows that Jehovah God will win and he'll be gone forever.
