monitor says no input signal - what is wrong? How do I fix it?
I have a HP pc running windows vista. It has a separate monitor.
Recently the monitor comes up with "no input signal" and goes to sleep when I turn the pc on...
It does this for a day or so, then works perfectly fine again!
I have checked all cables and they are secure!

If it's not the connection or cable, it could be the graphics card itself, if it is not integrated in the motherboard.
What I mean is that, I have an old computer with a graphics card integrated in the motherboard for which I bought a second more powerful graphics card which is connected via PCI Express slot. If the new graphics card has started to come out of the slot, the computer will automatically switch to using the integrated graphics card. Try pushing the "external" card into the PCI Express.
If that is not the case, then worse things might have happened. Sniff for the smell of burned cables inside the computer :)

There are 3 possible problems
1. The lead from your computer to your monitor have become disconnected.
2. If your monitor has more than one input source, it is set to the wrong one.
3. If your computer has more than one output source, it is set to the wrong one.
I am assuming both your monitor and your computer are working/switched on etc.
