Can't connect my Samsung galaxy to home wifi :'(?

Question

I called my network provider 3 times and no one could help me! I can connect to the WLAN at my college but I can't connect to my home wifi (WEP) - it doesn't even display it on the list of available wifi networks. When I enter it manually, it says it's 'out of range'.

Please please please help! I'm having to use my 3G all the time which is costing me a lot of money. Please advise me what to do or what to say when I call the network provider (because I am clueless in things to do with the internet, etc..)

As others have suggested, try changing your wifi security to something that's a little more secure than WEP (which can be cracked in as little as 1.5 minutes) to WPA2.

Also, check whether or not there is a firmware update for your router at the manufacturer's web site.

I just looked at the user manual for that thing, and man is it a mish-mash of stuff.

If you are still using WEP, then change the security type on your router's config page (usually http://192.168.1.1 ) to WPA or WPA2, since you are using an outdated security method that is now mostly unsupported.

If that doesn't work, then call your ISP (the one that deals with your home router) and ask them if they have any new routers that support WPA or WPA2 encrypted connection.

Try resetting your modem and router by disconnecting it for 10 secs.
But before take ur phone battery out n wait a 90 secs n try again....forget connection n put password again.

Login to your WLAN router, change the security to WPA/WPA2.
or
Login to your WLAN router, make sure your WLAN router is broadcasting it's SSID.
