What is the cylinder shaped object on the floor of the dishwasher?

I have a GE Nautilus dishwasher. It is leaking out the bottom right below a cylinder shaped object (a little bigger than a coke can) mounted to the floor of dishwasher. What is this object? any suggestions?

that is a float to measure how much water entered the unit , it tells the water valve to shut off when the unit is full and ready to wash , some units fill fast and some slower depending on your water pressure, this makes sure the unit is full .

This cylinder is in the left front corner it is the float switch. It should not leak there unless the tub is cracked. Most likely the the corner baffels are what is leaking. They are super easy to replace. The simply pull out and you can press the new ones right in. If you had left a model number I could of given you the part numbers. There is a left and right one, replace both at the same time for best proformance. Good luck.

It is the float, it should move up and down about a half inch, you can take it out and re-seal it. Disconnect the power before you start.
