Why does my mic keep starting to put out static?

I'm talking to my friend on skype, and he keeps saying my mic is staticy, and I can fix it temporarily by unplugging it and plugging it back in, but it keeps coming back. anyone know how to fix it?

    I am not sure about this... Could this be that you have the mic not working very well? Ask that to your friend and then, to the service if he/she doesn't have any idea about the mic...
