why did smoking used to be glamourous?

Back when smoking was started until 1950's they was under the impression that it was good for you the working class the rich it was glamourous I smoked my mother gave me one after lunch on a Sunday to start with I do not smoke now

actor's were encouraged to smoke in movies, that in itself is hugely influential. But the most notable instance i can think of is how cigarettes were smoked as "torches of freedom" by women's movements, they were given to them as it was frowned upon for women to be seen smoking, this is obviously from a bygone time where women weren't regarded with the same social status as men, and here cigarettes were cleverly used to show defiance while having the useful dual effect of granting huge exposure of the product to people who would buy it not just for pleasure but to connote an ideology

seems large in previous black and white videos, yet once you spot the after consequences, no longer so good. I used to paintings for a florist and had to make deliveries to hospitals and pass into maximum cancers wards the position many of the sufferers were lack of life so I talked about first hand what apparently like, and that i'll not in any respect ignore the scent in there. So once you aspect contained in the destiny consequences, the glamor style of fades away.

Because it was in the dark ages (so to speak) and people didn't realize how harmful it was. They had the tobacco companies telling them it wasn't harmful, go ahead and be mature and smoke our cigs. Kind of like the government telling us now days certain drugs are perfectly safe and then we find out they're killing people, or that genetically modified food is just fine, eat all you want!

Glamorous ppl smoked, so the companies who made money from cigarettes used them to promote smoking.

Well for one thing, it was something to do, rather than just sit there like an idiot. For another thing, smoke coming out of your face? Thats pretty cool!

Technology was less developed, and they did not know about the risks of smoking.

Probably because that is how the companies selling it promoted it, they also said it was healthy too.

you had to be rich to afford them back then?
