I have yet to watch "Se7en". It's been on my list of movies to watch for a long time, amongst other films such as "The Shawshank Redemption" and "The Shining". But to get to back to the question...

Movie: "Requiem For A Dream"

1. It's original score composed by Clint Mansell. The music is powerful in the sense that it sets the mood for the situation that the characters may be in, which in turn intensifies the whole viewing experience. Music is something that most people love, such as myself and the score within this film is amazing. If this film were to just be the actors, their acting, their dialogue etc. without the music I think it wouldn't be as intense or as powerful. 2. It's cinematography. I've never seen a movie along the lines that "Requiem For A Dream" has gone down in terms of how it is presented, it's well evident within the film's trailer. The fast cutting between the injections and the dilating pupils was brilliant and the conversation with Harry and Marion in bed was such a pretty scene, especially with the way that they showed it as if it were a live conversation by showing each of the actor's facial expressions (which is also done well during the phone call later in the film).

3. The acting. Ellen Burstyn ultimately stole the show. Each of the actors delivered an absolutely stellar performance each deserving of an award, however Ellen Burstyn was the star of the show. I'm surprised that the film didn't win an Oscar, because the performances were deserving. The way that they can evoke emotions and sympathy from following a script is perhaps one of the best I have seen in a film...ever. The link below is proof.

4. It's pacing. Rather than dragging on a bit too long (eg. "Loser") or rushing through the film (eg. "The Final Destination"), each and every second of the film was enjoyable and contributed to the plot without having pointless filler scenes in it. It in my eyes, is a masterpiece in film architecture.

5. It's subject matter. Addiction is something that they depicted really well in the sense that they treated it well and didn't go over boundaries due to it's context, like the way "American History X" graphically yet respectfully depicted racism. I'm not a drug-addict, nor do I plan to become one, nor have I ever come into contact with illegal drugs, but from my perspective I thought it was pretty realistic to a point. There were some things that kinda irritated me [SPOILER] (eg. when Harry's arm got gangrenous the Doctor didn't treat it before reporting him to the police on suspicion of being an addict). However I thought this film was a lot more effective than most anti-drug campaigns around today (eg. those "graphic" pictures of what smoking can do to you on cigarette packets).

6. The eye-candy. I mean the girls had Jared Leto and Marlon Wayans while the guys had Ellen Burstyn (maybe a bit too old for me) and Jennifer Connelly (wow, I mean...just, wow).

BQ: I honestly haven't seen any films with the word "Devil" in the title. But a film that I do want to see which has "Devil" in the title is a Korean horror film called "I Saw The Devil". You may have heard of it, this is sadly, the closest I will get to a sufficient answer with an actual favourite film containing "Devil" in it's title.

BQ2: "The Evil Dead" (1981) vs. "Terminator 2: Judgment Day" (1991).

I really didn't like "The Evil Dead" because I didn't find any scares within it, however it is the only film that I have seen from 1981 (hey, I only really got into films last year :D). "Terminator 2: Judgment Day" easily beats this film. The action, the dialogue, the ability for the Terminator to feel emotion; it is just a masterpiece in the sci-fi/action genre and a fantastic film all in all. I was also surprised to find out that he played Danny in "American History X", I just found that out a few weeks ago. It's just one of those moments when I realized a certain actor has been in two films and I thought he/she was two different people.

BQ3: "Final Destination 5". I thought this film was actually a really solid entry into the "Final Destination" and probably the best in the series. The 3rd and 4th films in the franchise were pretty bad and the first two were really good so I was glad to see that they focused more on the plot along with the deaths like the first two than rush through it and just focus on only the deaths like the 3rd, more so the 4th did.

Movie: Apocalypse Now

1. The use of "The End" by The Doors

2. The strange, eerie, synthesizer music

3. The dynamic shots throughout the movie

4. The way the camera seems to glide over the water when we're on the boat

5. The psychedelic sounds and lighting at the Do Lung bridge

6. Clean's mother's voice being played back on an audio tape after he is killed

7. Purple haze! Far out, man!

9. Kurtz's philosophical speech on horror

10. The building parallel action between the water buffalo sacrifice and Willard going to kill Kurtz with the music

Exhaustive descriptions posted by you and Emma already, I won't be able to even match so many points, but will still try. I will choose "Avatar' which I know you like too, but a lotta people don't agree with us here.

1. I guess I will always remain a kid at heart when it comes to movies, that is why I loved the visual treat that Avatar had to offer.

2. The fact that James Cameron had the patience and perseverance to wait for the technology to evolve (almost 10 years) to deliver his project.

3. The depth and thought given to each tiny detail of life on Pandora, even to the fact that the Na'vi language was created entirely from scratch. A language that the actors could pronounce easily, but did not resemble any single human language. It ended up almost 1000 words strong.

4. My favourite scene is where Jake Sully takes off from the lab, feeling and wriggling his toes for the first time in the sands of Pandora.

5. Last but no way the least, Neytiri all the way !!!!

BA : The Devil's Double (2011) - quite an intense and gripping narrative about the life of Saddam Hussein's sadistic son.

BA2 : An American Werewolf in London (1981) , Terminator 2 (1991) ...."Hasta la vista, baby"

BA3 : Its been a quite some time since I watched one, The Orphanage (2007) maybe - decent one.

Movie: The Graduate

1. The Soundtrack - especially the sound of silence by simon and garfunkel, simply haunting

2. Benjamin's nervousness when Mrs. Robinson goes into the room naked telling him that she's available

3. Benjamin's awkwardness at the hotel trying to ask for a room

4. The transition of bossy Mrs. Robinson to mean and scary Mrs. Robinson ("I'm extremely upset about it" and "I can make things quite unpleasant for you" comes to mind) with a terrific performance by Anne Bancroft

5. The scene when Benjamin tells Elaine that he was having an affair with her mother.

Especially when Mrs. Robinson appeared next to Elaine behind the door, great composition. And when Elaine turns back looking at the camera, the camera slowly change its focus from behind elaine back to elaine's face. Just great! It's so subtle. 6. When Benjamin goes looking for Elaine, he breaks into Elaine's house only to find Mrs. Robinson. And there's a shot when Mrs. Robinson picks up the phone and calls the police, the camera starts moving in on her from the other end of the room and eventually stop when Mrs. Robinson's face was in close up. BQ3: The Exorcist. Great film that has aged well. Very disturbing too.

Ha ha "Nate" named the movie i wanted to say here..."Magnolia" still one of the best movies ever made (in my opinion) and i agree...Tom Cruise was Amazing in the film..

I'll pick "In the Name of the Father"

1). The main characters in the film are hippies, i simply love them all

2). Daniel Day-Lewis's character irish accent

3). The rfriendship between Daniel Day-Lewis character and his father

4). the beggining of the film, it starts with an explosion

5). Emma Thompson's character starts weird and nerdy but then shows a strong personality

6).The amazing direcrting of the film

7). Daniel Day Lewis character in the film is outgoing and fun due all the sh1t happens to him and his friends

8).The soundtracks of the films are mostly pop which i loved

9).The start scene when Daniel's character run away and people helps him...it's wonderful to see people help each others

BQ:The Devil Wears Prada

BQ2:Favorite movie from 1981 is "On Golden Pond" and my favorite film from 1991 is "The Silence of the lambs"...On Golden Pond is 100000times better than Silence of the lambs

1. The montage to open the film with a narrator explaining inexplicable real-life events

2. Marcie telling the cop, "That ain't mine!" If you haven't seen the movie, he doesn't find drugs, he finds a dead body.

3. John C. Reilly, known since then for his comedic value is untouched in this dramatic role.

4. The game show. Most "entertainment within entertainment" falls flat in movies, but the game show at the forefront is intriguing.

5. Frank TJ Mackey being dismantled by the reporter.

6. Tom Cruise. I know I'll be tossed in the gutter for this, but his performance in this is absolutely tremendous. Forget Katie Holmes and Scientology for just 3 hours, I beg of you.

7. The old man's words of wisdom to Phillip Seymour Hoffman.

8. PSH trying to order porn mags discreetly from the grocery store. "Do you still want the bread, cigarettes and milk"? LMFAO

9. Absolutely the cast sing-along

EDIT FOR OP: Do you read cracked.com? If you love Se7en, namely the what's in the box scene, they had a contest for people to submit the worst possible pranks pulled on a fictional character. One entry showed a photo of the outside of the box, then a pic of Mills capping Doe, before displaying the contents of the box: a cake that said Happy Birthday Mills. Sommerset failed to mention that. Thought it would be good for a laugh.

Movie: Pan's Labyrinth (2006)

1. The fact that it's so visually captivating.

2. How the child (Ofelia) increasingly takes refuge from the brutality of her surroundings in a richly imagined fantasy life.

3. A great deal of the movie (specifically, Ofelia's quests) can be interpreted into occult and archetypal symbolism that's found throughout the movie. *SPOILER* An example: (The Pale Man Quest) Ofelia manages to retrieve the dagger, but on her way out, cannot resist the temptation of eating a big juicy grape, symbolizing the wealth accumulated by the Cronus figures. The Pale Man can juxtapose Captain Vidal (having dinner with guests scene).

4. How it's so clear, that del Toro cares about his characters and the stories he creates so much. Every detail, every frame has given some insight. The tree itself, the one Ofelia has to enter is shaped like a utuerus! http://www.talesofthepack.com/wp-content/uploads/2... Reference to birth?

5. Ofelia! You break our hearts! This little girl has probably shown the most insight and depth into the complexity and brutality this world offers than any child in any movie I've seen, whilst still managing to restore our confidence in human decency.

BQ: The Devil Wears Prada

BQ2: Raiders of the Lost Ark (1981) & Silence of the Lambs (1991). Silence of the Lambs, definitely.

BQ3: 'I Saw the Devil' - it's a South Korean thriller that has everything from annibalism, torture, violence at every turn and buckets of gore. Not an uplifting experience at all! Lol but definitely one of the best I've seen in a while. It's pretty formulaic, the whole 'justice gone to the bad side' is pretty overused but even at its most chaotic, the film never loses sight of the human toll of the increasingly over-the-top events it portrays. There is all the violent mayhem, for certain, but the thing that sets "I Saw the Devil" apart is its undercurrent of real emotion and how unrelentingly sad it can be.

EDIT: Haha! I agree with "UA" BUT! It's homework we all wish we had!

Hello! I choose Inglourious Basterds.

1. Hans Landa's massive pipe. Almost cartoonish in the dramatic opening scenes.

2. The soundtrack. A lot of Ennio Morricone, I love it :)

3. Harvey Keitel making a small cameo, as the American sergeant on the other side of the radio. I got very excited in the cinema.

4. The integrity and bravery of Shosanna, one of my favourite characters. Her acting in the cafe with Hans Landa was incredible.

5. The moment Donny walks out of the tunnel holding his baseball bat. He looks so impressive and undeniably gorgeous.

6. The line "Well if this is it, old boy, I hope you don't mind if I go out speaking the King's" said by brilliantly English and posh character Archie Hicox, in the tavern.

7. The fact that Tarantino is subtly implying that is it actually cinema and films that save the world with 'operation kino'. The whole movie is such a homage to movies anyway with lots of quotes suggesting such. "It's been a pleasure chatting with a fellow cinema lover."

8. The scene where Shosanna is putting on her 'war paint' to Cat People by David Bowie.

9. The fact that all 'foreign' people spoke with their native tongue and there were subtitles in the movie. I like that kind of authenticity and thought it showed the acting power of Michael Fassbender and Christopher Waltz.

10. The last line - "I think this just might be my masterpiece"

BQ: First thing I think of is 'Before the Devil Knows You're Dead'

BQ2: The Evil Dead (1981) vs Thelma and Louise (1991) = The Evil Dead!

BQ3: Cabin Fever. Brilliant movie, fun and quirky and weird. One of my favourites :)

1. The fact that it's a brilliant war film, but contains no combat scenes.

2. It gets more powerful with every watch.

3. Steve Buscemi's supporting role.

4. Ben Foster and Woody Harrelson singing at the wedding.

5. It's somewhat of a subtle film that just ends.
