What are some recommended anti-virus/anti-spyware programs for Windows 7?
Looking to spend about $30. Prefer a low-demand program that doesn't hog a lot of resources. Please post sources.
Thanks!

www.avast.com
Please don't pay for antivirus software they are almost all bloatware and it really is just a money grab. Avast! is free and once you disable the noises it makes, its unobtrusive and doesnt hog resources.
Also, download spybot search and destroy from here: http://www.safer-networking.org/index2.html
You can install it with any other antivirus program, wont really make a difference. Its a good program for just spyware and some virus removal.
here are some others:

If you want free then I recommend Avast , superantispyware and Malwarebytes. coupled with Comodo firewall They are all free for personal use . It is safe to use two anti-spy products but never use more than one A/V as it can cause conflicts. You should run A/V and anti spy weekly.

1. free antivirus - free MSE
2. Antimalware - pay for malwarebytes
3. Free antispyware - free superantispyware
Good, Light & cheap.
real time protection from viruses & spyware come from MSE
real time protection from malware comes from malwarebytes PRO
free superantispyware will pick up anything malwarebytes PRO or MSE miss.
then add free WOT & free PSI

Don't spend money on anti-virus softwares they slow down everything on your computer. Your internet provider will provide you one for free, ring and ask about free anti-virus software. (I'm with virgin media and thru supplied it no problem, and it didn't slow down my system)

Other than the specialist scanners that have already been stated, i use Webroot, worth checking it out.
