Is the Alamo in San Antonio worth visiting?
We will be passing through San Antonio en route to elsewhere in March; will just have a single evening in town... How late does the Alamo building stay upon (and are the grounds "always" open)?

Yep, I agree with Penny. The Alamo was very boring but the river walk and river walk boats were really good. San Antonio is a very beautiful city. You could probably quickly walk through the Alamo before it closes (if you're there before closing, I don't know what time that is, sorry), spend about 30mins there (that's plenty of time) and then head over to the river and hop on one of the boats with the tour guide that will tell you about what you see and the city.

The Alamo is a fascinating place to visit...it's usually teenagers who are bored with it, it seems. However, it's only open until 5:30. I don't know if all the grounds are open, but the plaza area in front likely is. It is adjacent to the River Walk, and can be a quick side trip from the River Walk if you find you're going to be too late to actually go inside the building.
Enjoy your evening!

Yes, it is worth visiting. It is a State or National Monument and I'm sure the evening hours may be too late.
I visited there in September, 1979. My group went there in the middle of the day. I'm sure you can check it out on line.
However, the river walk in downtown San Antonio is a great place for evening dinner and relaxation.

I study each and all the others and Houston is the region to be. Houston is ordinary, yet unknown. i replaced into born and raised in Houston. Houston is simplistic. each and all the freeways meet downtown and there are 2 loops that cirvle houston 610 and the Beltway. Houston isn't as commercial as Dallas. we are extra huge buisness than something. the two aspects of city is nearly a various city. no longer one component is like yet another component. via our new Baseball, Basketball, and soccer stadiums, Houston has made dissimilar advancements. yet i think of we are the huge brother to all the different towns. San Antonio has a super hispanic community. i like San Antonio Austin is outstanding even in spite of the undeniable fact that it caters to specially college young ones and the capital while in consultation. Austin is super in case you desire to social gathering each and all the time. they have extremely outstanding actual property via hills. El Paso to me is Mexico yet in this component of the border. I went to Juarez a pair of circumstances and got here back and did no longer understand i replaced into back interior the states via fact they look alike. they have citadel Hood and Utep. so as that they are extremely no longer doing something huge as in economic equipment. I even have been to Dallas many circumstances and that i in no way extremely felt like i replaced into in Texas. Dallas is purely too commercial with the Cowboys, the instruct, assasination and being Texas vogue capital. those are the only issues goin on there.

I dont know how late its open, but I found it incredibly boring. You cant even take pics inside.
I did LOVE the River Walk boat ride! That was SO fun. Highly recommend. I think its on the same city block as the Alamo.
