Atheists: How do you deal with the emptiness?
I'm not asking whether not not God exists. What I'm asking is that now that you have decided that God does in fact not exist, how do you deal with the feelings of emptiness and meaninglessness?

the truth is surprisingly liberating, how do you deal with all that guilt and uncertainty?

I think a lot of the positive things people can get out of belief in god(s) don't necessarily require a belief in god(s). You can be fascinated at the universe & the idea that, as humans, we're all connected since starting from some original source. Why should things change if the source is in question?
Why would golden rule teachings, morals, & helping us progress suddenly become meaningless if we're not the favorites of some creator? Why is it even considered that much more meaningful if there is a creator & meaningless without one? How is it still not an amazing thing that should be enjoyed & appreciated?
I think if a lot of people feel that the whole thing depends on there being a god who will make it all better & reward them in the next life, then they're still missing the point of those teachings.

The absence of a belief in God does not mean that there's a empty space left.
Atheist think about the big bang and how every atom in their body can be traced back in the same way every atom of every star can be traced. The same thing I am made of is the same thing that trees, animals, stars, planets, black holes, everything is made of. There's a profound sense of belonging brought on by the knowledge of how atheists understand the universe.
It's a great feeling to be connected to the universe that does not require a belief in any supreme being. It's even more special that my life happened without the idea that some other being said that I would exist.

How is a chemical reaction an phantasm or pretend? we adore love (oh expensive, this might get out of hand, won't be able to it?). we like the way being around human beings we adore makes us experience. there is not any vacancy in my lifestyles because of the fact i don't think of a few vast guy interior the sky is making me experience the thoughts i believe. If something, i may well be depressed if i theory that some supernatural rigidity had to make me experience thoughts fairly than having the flexibility to experience them on my own. Sorry if it particularly is incoherent. it is a million am and my eyeballs are sliding down my face.

This must be asked by someone who was "filled with God" before. There is no emptiness, and there is no meaninglessness. Frankly, your question doesn't make sense to me.

I don't have those feelings. Maybe if I was a slave to some boring 9 to 5 job, and I secretly hated my wife and I was 50 years old and nothing I'd done ever amounted to anything, maybe then I'd feel that way, but I don't now. As it is now I'm a 22 year old college student with wide-eyed optimism for what the future holds for me.

Since there is no god to give your life meaning and that is what a lot of Christians say that's what makes life worth living I would say the only difference is I'm not afraid to die and I don't have to pay someone 10% of my income to tell me I'm going to Disney world when I die.

Not having relied on the existence of gods to fill me, I don't have those feelings

Actually, not having God in my life means that I can spend it with those I care about and by extension very real. If God was in my life, it would be intrusive, viral, and deleterious--I would be under dictatorship for my thoughts, actions, and decisions.
