Why is American Idol airing on Sunday night?

You realize don't you that the "City Audition" episodes have been made months ago -- there is nothing "live" or original about the January and early February scheduled shows which are pre-performance and lead in to the TOP 24 vote collection shows (12 guy Idolettes / 12 girl Idolettes) -- Right?

Considering that AI is on after the playoffs, they're hoping that people will keep the channel on and the show will get viewers it may not have gotten on its normal night.

Anytime you want to maximize the number of people that watch a show, a great way to do that is to put it on after something like a sporting event. You're obviously not a football fan, so the reasoning isn't obvious to you, but in TV, if you put a show directly following a really popular show, even if THAT show sucked, people are lazy enough that they will just sit and watch the show that's on after what they already are watching. AI doesn't need the help of scheduling it after the playoffs, but I can remember several times when the #1 and #2 shows have been back to back, esp way back when people had to get up off their couches to change a channel.

Even now, with remotes, the same psychological trick works.

Alot of football fans would prob catch American idol as well since it comes on after. Ratings have been dropping this season so could be why as well

i like it, yet i could no longer be a relentless on that prepare. a million greenbacks isn't sufficient funds.
