why are men funnier than women?

yes, there are funny women but by far, most comedians and comic strip writers are men.

why is this so?

    Men are less self conscious about their jokes and they are more well received by crowds as well

    I find female comics funnier. Nikky Payne is my absolute favourite.

    comedy is expected to have a slightly nasty edge.

    men are considered ok, and even funny, if they go on the (mild/funny) attack.

    women are trained to be sociable and look bad if they appear to attack.
