What do you want to hear in a radio station that you listen to?
Okay so basically, I may be doing a college radio type of thing and I've been thinking about what I want to play. Hardcore and Punk is my favorite genre and they're just the genres that I know the most in general but I'm also really into Indie, Pop/Punk, Emo, Hip-Hop, Electronic music, and other random genres. I'm trying to figure out if I should stick to a few similar kinds of music or play whatever I want. What do you think? Thanks!

college radio? Well, I'd suggest local acts smattered between the Violent Femmes. Maybe some Hootie just to piss people off.
Play whatever you want. From my experience, there's maybe 5 people that actually *listen* to college radio, unless things have drastically changed from the mid-90s.

i say play what you want. you may not build up a regular audience as quickly that way, but at least you will be offering the sort of variety that is sorely lacking in radio and you will be being true to yourself.

I would go with different genres, and create different moments for each genre. Like 1pm-2pm: rock, 2-3pm: pop,... That way everyone's happy. :)
