Has anybody here ever changed their political affiliation, religious beliefs or sexual orientation because...?

...of a rhetorical question (or undisguised rant) they read on this site? Genuine question: people spend a lot of time and effort posting them and answering them and making sock puppets for them, which suggests that they think it's worthwhile. But why? What's the motivation there?
